It made me sad too, Jill. I wasn't a huge fan. I don't even think I ever heard the whole of "Rehab", but I saw her life just like everyone else. Her life made me sad for her. You're right. For Coleman it actually started in Kindergarten, and got pretty bad in 1st grade. When it became evident his "best friend" was hitting him, and then talked him into a game where they hit Julia (age 2). I finally just told him. This person is not your friend, and you're not allowed to play with him anymore. He was crushed, and mad. He argued and debated, yelled and screamed. It took 2 years before he finally saw it. Once he had a "true" friend or two he was able to see what a shit that other kid was. (((hugs))) to you, hubs, and child 1. kudos to you and the teacher. very well handled. I've stayed out of this conversation for 4 + weeks. But now I'm going to say something. I'm autistic, and that's not what I hear when parents say that. What I hear, is people who wish to God their children didn't suffer. My children are autistic. My son, in particular suffers. On my worst "autistic" day, I don't suffer as much as I do on HIS worst "autistic" day. It's heart wrenching. I understand the concept of autism being intrinsically part of who we are. I don't know who or what I'd be if I wasn't autistic. I understand your point as clearly as you make it. But I don't think it's fair of you to come here and try to play on the guilt of these parents who want nothing more than to stop the suffering of their children. My recent post Time to Step Away

Yeah, we're constantly laughing at our foibles around here too. That doesn't make this thing the Onion put out funny. And I'd like to point out that if this had been the "reporter with Down Syndrome" and the actor acted, and it was scripted according to that disability. NO ONE would have thought this was funny. Not funny. But then, I very rarely find things funny that other people think are just hilarious. Someone mentioned Tosh O.? I watched him for like a second an a half. He makes jokes about child molestation. Really? That's funny? EVER? With this, I think they took the "it's funny 'cause it's true" thing and crossed the line. I'll come by whenever you post. Doesn't matter to me. Recently, I quit a post a day challenge because I was starting to feel like I had to put stuff out there and the stuff was crap. So I announced I was quitting the challenge and just going to post when I had something to say/ when I felt like I could put something up with substance. Wanna know what? I've posted every day since then, and some times twice a day. Tonight's rant was shit, but I'm proud of everything I've written since I quit the challenge. Weird huh?
