Crime is rising with all these punks though, and something needs to be done. If you do feel the need to arm yourself, make sure you do it right and keep it to where no one else can get the weapon. I am all for people having protection for themselves, just please have common sense when you choose to carry or own one. I did a research study on juvenile criminals for one of my college classes. I feel that these kids should be charged as adults when they are "adult" enough to know what they are doing. And with the way it is now-a-days, yes--we definitely need a bit more security at our schools. I know it's hard to do this with our economy and budgets being the way it is, but now I am beginning to understand why so many parents want to home school their children. Since we don't know the whole story, I can't say if this is a bullying issue--but if that is the case, then there goes another can of worms to be opened. The teen who got shot (along with the family) is in my thoughts and prayers. However, nowadays, it's a lot different than it used to be. We didn't have so many sickos on the streets as we do now and just knowing she is ok--that has to put major joy in the family's hearts. I am sure she will get a punishment, but the family also wants to thank everyone who helped look for her. They probably feel terrible (yet thankful) that everyone had jumped in to help and this was not a real emergency. Many years ago, a very young girl went missing about two houses down from me. They had search helicopters and everything. Come to find out, she was sleeping under the bed. The family felt awful that they had "wasted" everyone's time, but they were so relieved that she was not really taken. My point is--this family is just wishing to thank everyone who had helped in the search and celebrate that their child is ok. This could have been a very TERRIBLE outcome if she was really taken.
