I had read all the new Toast material today in an effort to distract myself from my impending deadline. I came back here in the forlorn hope that there would be something I hadn't seen. And then this wonder appeared. This is my heart's song. Whenever Nicolas Cage starts talking and the music comes in behind him my little soul fills with joy. I once wrote an entire essay on how the declaration of independence granted not only rights but responsibilities without realising that this belief stems entirely from National Treasure. The world deserves another National Treasure

I really think that in this much deserved sequel the second Mrs de Winter should be allowed to have her own name. One that is not 'Maxim's little fool' or 'Rebecca II (not as hot and not as fun)'

I have had every single one of these thoughts before. Every one. Mallory you speak to my soul. My only additional thought is that every time I watch the L word I forget that Pam Grier is in it as the token straight character and then I cannot believe that I forgot that. That and her really hot boyfriend Ivan and her really ugly boyfriend that man I can't remember who's meant to be shockingly young but is in fact just shockingly less hot than her.

after you've done the tragedy paper at cambridge you really KNOW the word sparagmos. And you often use this knowledge to mutter darkly to your friends 'did you hear what he just said? Let's sparagmos him'

Firstly, as an East Anglian, all hail our greatest of queens. Secondly I have a story about Boudica. In Ipswich Museum there was a statue of Boudica which was a great fave of mine in my youth, she had a chariot, a big spear, and a really really angry face. all big mouth and teeth and just anger everywhere. recently i went to visit her again, pay my respects, maybe lay a memorial wreath, having just moved back to ipswich. and she was gone. her chariot was not there. however i searched the museum from top to bottom for her. and i found her. And she was a Roman wife. Her spear arm had been removed and covered with a shawl and she was standing in some placid faced roman goat herd's house. But no cloak could as conveniently cover the rage still all over her face. she looks like she wants to kill that goat herd with his own goat. I am planning to free her soon. our queen deserves better
