I plan on getting a Vita at some point (probably years down the road when it's really cheap, and it has a bigger library of games I actually want). I was in a store last week and a guy brought one in and they offered him 60 for it and he turned them down, I wanted to offer him $80 for it but I had no cash on me. If it had backward compatibility with PSP games I would probably have one already, because I fear for the disk drive in my old PSP. I would gladly exchange that useless back touchpad (it still blows my mind why they thought that was such a great idea) and pay a little more for backward compatibility. I'm not too disappointed in dropping these apps. I may have used Youtube some, but that's probably it, I rarely use that stuff on handhelds and consoles.

I'm okay with it, and the reason why is Windows 8. Windows 8 is just awful, so bad they skipped Windows 9 to distance themselves from 8 (or they are just horrible with numbers, I mean they went from what I thought was 1 straight to 360, then back to 1). But if you go out and buy a new computer, it's gonna have Windows 8 on it. I lucked out on my laptop and got it just before they stopped putting Windows 7 on everything. I wasn't so lucky with my PC though, I ended up having to buy a refurbished computer to get the Windows 7 operating system. These are regularly upgraded, but I think 10 was fast tracked because 8 was so awful. There always seems to be some changes I don't like, honestly XP is my favorite, but I got used to 7 just fine, 8 on the other hand was so bad I avoid it like the plague. I have been using 10 preview version at work, and I can say it kills 8. It still has a little of 8 in it, but it's tolerable. At least now when I do buy a new computer, I can buy a new one, and not have to worry about getting Windows 8.

Yeah, I completely forgot that it was even DLC. I just consider it it's own game and did buy the retail copy.

Yeah I avoid any free to play games. The whole idea is that they have to make up for the cost of the game in micro transactions. Which means they have to have a lot more than the value of what the full game would have cost because not everyone is going to spend money on every single thing there is to spend on.So in the end to get everything out of it you are going to be paying more than the cost of a whole game. Perhaps Nintendo can somehow make it worthwhile like they did with DLC on Mario Kart, but I remain skeptical that it can be done by anyone at this point. I'll just wait and see before I go jumping in on that.

If they don't want people to think they are doing underhanded dirty shit, perhaps they should try not doing underhanded dirty shit. I looked it up and from what I read this is some of the biggest rip off DLC I have ever seen. You can add single characters or skins for like $7.50 a piece, and one of them is $15. Nothing of real substance is added, and if you want the whole game you will basically be paying like $120. Then they stated they would like to have had them all in the game from the get go, but wouldn't be able to finish on time. Then delay the game and release it when it's actually finished (something virtually no developers willing to do these days except Nintendo). At the very least if it is stuff that should be in the game then make it free downloads, not charge out the ass for it. Then they try to spin it like you are getting an incredible value. This stuff is getting really out of hand.

People like to complain about Nintendos digital offerings, but in reality they make everyone look bad. Look what you got with the Mario Kart DLC, half of an entire new game, 16 new tracks and 6 new characters, for only $12. Of course, making third parties look bad is why I think many of them don't put their games on Nintendo systems. Why buy half finished games that they are going to double the price of the game to add a few extra characters when you can get completed and functioning games that are highly polished and nearly bug free with greater variety for the regular price of a game? Not to mention when they do put a game on a Nintendo system it is half assed and missing features, etc. and look even worse by comparison. I'll admit Nintendo is doing DLC more and more these days, but the difference is that it is actually worth it.

I have mixed feelings on this. When Club Nintendo started it was the bomb. But it has progressively gotten worse as the years have gone on. I don't understand why they just got rid of it instead of fixing it, or just implementing whatever the new program will be into Club Nintendo though, but whatever. I do hope they will put up some cool physical items to spend our remaining coins on (maybe that Super Nintendo Wii Classic controller everywhere else got). I'm guessing the new program will be all digital, I just hope we are given eshop credits so we can get whatever we want instead of the few games a month Club Nintendo had.

They did get the one Club Nintendo item I wanted above any other though, the Super Nintendo classic controller for Wii. Coincidentally North America was the only place that didn't get it.

I'm sorry, but there's no way you can convince me that they wouldn't profit off selling them. They could even cut out the middle man and sell them online only and make even more profit if they think they are going to sell so much less. Not to mention what they could make off faceplates.

9 years ago @ PLAYERESSENCE - Nintendo Comments on O... · 1 reply · +1 points

I would disagree. You don't think people would be buying faceplates left and right? Hell, all they need to do is release exclusive ones and people will pre order all of them in 15 minutes. That's $10 a piece for a couple little pieces of plastic. Plus, people who were going to buy the New 3DS aren't going to buy one now. That also means any games that only work on New 3DS won't be sold to those people. The systems are already being produced, so theres not extra costs there.

The only way of thinking that this would make them more money is that they believe they will force people to pay the extra $30 for the XL, sell a million, and that's 30 million extra dollars.

I never said the 2DS was a bad idea. I think it is a good system for young kids, (or even an adult who likes it better, who am I to say you can't prefer the 2DS). If they had come out today and said only the New 3DS will be releasing and we won't be getting the XL, I would have thought that was a bad idea even though I have no desire to ever own an XL. Just because I personally don't want one doesn't mean I think the people who do shouldn't be given the chance to get one. When the entire rest of the world gets it and we don't for no good reason then it is a bad idea. There are tons of people who don't want a large portable system. I only play mine when I'm not at home, and I have car keys, a wallet, and a phone to take with me as well, and I don't carry a purse or backpack, so a giant 3DS XL is not at all practical for me. If they think this is going to be such a bad seller (like they thought with many Amiibos and the Gamecube adapter) then only offer it online through their website. The system is being produced anyway since the whole rest of the world has it, and selling it themselves saves them on retailer expenses and shelf space, so it's no extra money out of their pocket. I've also heard the argument they don't want to take up shelf space on faceplates. Then don't sell them, or only offer them online. Even if they weren't available I would still buy the smaller system.

This is just a bad idea, theres no way around it.
