Defense Tech : Pics of the Day: Look Who's Headed to Sea Again

Slightly depressing how many view this only from a force projection POV when this new carrier capability delivers excellent training for the Chinese air force and navy in how to practice anti-carrier operations. Now they got a real ship out at sea with weapon systems to train against. Ideal for a Taiwan scenario.

The Pentagon has made the fighter program "the cornerstone of its tactical aviation modernization strategy," said the panel's report accompanying the bill. " Thought they said it was going to be a backbone.

Surely Lockheed could negotiate lower prices with its sub-contractors since they have confidence 5000-7000 F-35's will be sold over the next couple of decades. In fact why aren't LM ordering 1000 pieces of everything right now.. why not don't they believe in their own product?

William C, same reason why it cant supercruise even in clean config and 43,000 lbs of thrust. It's a brick.

I can't believe this article and comments completely missed the fact that Canada sent CF-18 fighters and indeed all the way from Canada to participate in bomb attacks on Libyan targets.

Defense Tech : New Footage of Russia's Second Stealth Fighter

@E_L_P , in the words of a Swedish fighter pilot 'you don't wanna fly up against the new Russian jets with AMRAAMs'... The Eurocanards with Meteor missile, IRST and wide scanning AESA's will be the hardest opponents the way things look right now. US is rapidly losing its edge.
