I heard about this, and the first thought was 'but this is not fair for those who really are disabled'. Some people, honestly... It would have been loads better to just shame the habit publicly, every which way, but keep the way disabled persons are treated just the same. Just because some stupid people pull stupid pranks does not mean that everyone should suffer.

Oh the duck! I am so sorry to hear this, Heather. I follow a blog written by a mum whose three year old has mito and I know from what she writes what a heartbreak that is. I was actually thinking about you the other day, and hoping you were just too 'good' busy to update. Praying for you, sweetie. All of you.

1. Before my own sticky bfp, I was green with envy reading pregnancy and parenting blogs. But many of those blogs were and still are brilliant. I was rooting for them and following their story and wanted to be like them one day. And I am, not that brilliant, but a parent and pregnant again.

2. I second Loribeth's answer. It also matters if the story is compelling - not necessarily with many twists and turns, because is is life, not novels, but if I like how the blogger writes and the attitude towards things in life, I keep coming for more.

3. People are people. With some you click, with some you don't. Just because someone told me to shut up because I only miscarried, and only once, that does not mean that I do shut up or that I hold the entire community responsible for that. Feelings are not easily controlled and we should just accept that as it is.

Good gracious, this blog should be in school by now! :-)
Happy blogoversary, Kristin!
I first came to your blog from Mel's blog, there was a comment that got my attention and then, here I was. And then, there was the St. Elsewhere drama, and you had that wonderful idea and you included all of us and I just got blown away by your thoughtfulness and care. I am sorry I could not get to my email sooner though, to tell you on time that the fabricworm piece was from me...
Anyway, yeah, so I have seen your comments on many blogs I read, and I just think that you are a great lady, nice, caring, always having a good word and a kind thought to share. You have a very nice family, full of love and respect, and this is so rare nowadays, that I must complement you double for the very good job you do at caring for your family, teaching your kids to be responsible future grown-ups with hearts and minds open, and keeping your marriage fine and dandy as it was on day one.
*holding up the glass with bubbly*
To Kristin and her 7 years of blogging!
*slurps bubbly and giggles, but all very gracefully, of course*
Hear, hear!

Oh, my grannie has the same style of handing out recipies. "A small cup of sugar" (as opposed to a big one?! And please note they we measure stuff in metric, we use only grams and kilos and liter, no cups, no ounces, no nonsense :-)), "as much flour as the dough may hold" (that must be the weirdest and most frustrating of the vaguest instructions), "three handfuls of rice and one more for the pot" (so there are four handfuls?" - and she replies "nooo, just three, and one for the pot" whatever that is). No wonder I can't make plum dumplings like my gran, my dough just doesn't hold as much flour as it may, I guess.
But your Non sounds like an absolute blast. She must have been quite the (memorable) force in her days. :-) Just as Nons should be, right?

Hi,

I have been reading your blog for a while, but never commented. I am Mina. Nice to meet you.

Congrats on the pregnancy. I hope all goes perfect and Ginny has a sibling when due.

I found this and immediately thought of you. I hope you don't mind I share. I know you want to change the layout, but you're still hobbit through and through, right? :-)

PS- i know this sounds like a spam, but it's not. At least I don't think so. :-)

You have amazing children. J sounds like a young lady who hopefully will enjoy most of teenagehood and make you proud and enjoy it too. Happy birthday, J! I hope you had a blast.

Hi, I have been reading your blog for a while, but never commented, because what do you say to a mum like you who does it all and more and makes me ashamed of my puny complaints, when I have a healthy child and I have it all and still complain? Sorry for rambling, but I am truly humbled by your strenght.
Hugs? You deserve a bazilion hugs, and shoulders to help you and onwhich to cry, and much more.
I can't begin to imagine what you are going through.
I know you know, but just let me tell it once more: most people are stupid, and say things they don't think through, and it's not that they don't care, but they are simply limited by their normal lives and can't understand what you are going through. So try to ignore the crap that comes out around you and just let them be.
Your children need you, don't waste your energy on others who just can't see from your point of view.
{{{{hugs}}}}
Thinking of and praying for you.
