I am so glad you enjoyed the show! It was great fun to make and as always I learned some new things such as how to create a noir radio script as I have never written a radio play before. I have been so lucky to work with such talented people.

As to my experiment with bacon: "Survey says?" "#1 Answer: Make more bacon!" Everyone who has had some has loved it so it has been a rousing success as an experiment.
Going to pick up another pork loin this week, so we'll have some bacon made for Easter Sunday. This is the recipe I used with minor modifications. http://www.smallfootprintfamily.com/how-to-cure-b...
I did use apple wood chips and I cooked it on the BBQ which probably explains why it cooked a little more than it should have and ended up as a ham. I may try it with bourbon this time....
I was thinking of making cinnamon buns but instead of making it as individual buns, I'd make it as a loaf and then slice it for french toast. I've never done that before but I am pretty sure it would taste very good and go well with the bacon. Hmmmm, I think the next 3Ts cooking show may have already found its theme!

Bonnie, I agree! Print both hobbles us and uplifts us. I do idealize books, but because I grew up in a pre-digital age they were the earliest form of academic freedom I had. I could go the library and choose what I wanted to read, no one else. I could form my own opinions internally and not have to justify them to someone else. Books/writing, in my view, are a silent communication between an author and the reader and it is private and personal until we decide to share and engage.

Cultures that rely on an oral tradition and storytelling as a means of passing on history and tradition place their history in the hands of the community at large and all have ownership in both the maintenance of the history and the creation of new. Perhaps that is what is happening now in digital space? We are both the keepers and the generators of new stories and ideas? This is in keeping with your idea of digital culture as a mixture of both oral and written communication because of it's ability to rapidly respond and the choice of engagement/response. Perhaps we are heading back to the idea of wandering bards who come into our digital community, tell us tales (and challenge our assumptions) and then move on?

Jaap, I love the proverb! I have the same problem with French, much easier to read than speak (my accent is atrocious I've been told.)

John thanks for all the links! As well as Craig's list you could do it with Amazon reviews too!

John I'd love to try that assignment! I had so much fun with the piece. My problem is I don't know how to make my own musical background noise so I just have to use what's out there and free. Anything in the DS106 repertoire that may help with that problem? I do not own any Apple related products so Garage Band is not an option.

Hi Jenny, Frances and Mariana, Thank you so much for the comments! I actually found vases made out of books too Mariana! I'll put the finished song up on Soundcloud. Love the idea of the rhizomatic weed. I'm very weedy!
Frances I thought your video was so thoughtful and well done! And Jenny, just hang around with the DS106 crowd and you'll be able to make a movie too!

I agree, it's dogma that needs to be avoided. I'd like to think I don't have to read D&G to be able to make art though!

Maybe we are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of communication we are inundated with everyday and the job of keeping our "crap detector" on high alert at all times. Sorting "good" knowledge from "bad" used to be, as I've mentioned above, someone else's job: government, publishers, etc. Now it's ours.

Thanks Christina! I think what is interesting about certainty/uncertainty is that it seems to require a balance between the two to work in learning. You need a grounding, a "certainty" in order to be able to make the leap to the future or unknown, the "uncertainty." Perhaps it is enough to be aware that knowledge itself is uncertain.

Terry, I'll check out that author. I like the idea of inviting the future as it emerges! It ties in very closely with some readings I did last year about aboriginal education.

Thank you so much Jaap for your kind words. I think part of my conflict about these ideas is that we approach teaching concepts/curriculum with certainty, while in our hearts we know that certainty, as you say, is a lie. Yet, as a group humans tend to like certainty.
