The other Aria anime were pretty nice. It's a very laid-back, slice-of-life, feel good and relaxing anime series. I read the manga waaay back when they were first translated and sold in the US and really enjoyed them.

I'm very bored by many of the typical anime tropes/cliches so it usually takes me a while to find something that includes very little to none of those things. That being said, the last anime I watched that fulfilled these requirements of mine was Psycho Pass. It's a pretty serious anime, set into the near future, involving predicting crime. Rather than being pre-crime involving premonitions of the future a la Minority Report, it uses this futuristic analyzing system that can, in a few seconds, build a pyschological profile (or psycho pass)of a person and based on stress levels, predict that that person has a higher propensity for committing a crime, all based around a color or hue system. The investigators/enforcers have these special guns that can read the psycho pass of a person and depending on how high it is, will either go into a stun mode or an over-the-top kill mode. The story is very psychological itself and delves into some great deep issues. If you can't tell, I was blown away by it, check it out if you like futuristic psychological thrillers :)

I was in choir for many many years, then show choir so singing I can do fairly well. I also taught myself violin (through books, youtube videos and a year's worth of 1 day a week 30 minute private lessons) As a sidenote to you musical bronies: http://www.everyponysings.com/ is a great MLP:FIM music resource, in case you all haven't discovered it yet. I do greatly love the This Day Aria, I got such shivers when I was hearing it for the first time, I tend to love villains and villain songs and this one easily beats out a lot of the others. Minor key tonality is probably the biggest thing I look for in music - I'm usually instantly attracted to a song if it has that. That being said, songs in minor key tend to be a bit more difficult than the more common keys songs are written in, alas (at least on the violin).
