Rhode Island is a weird place. I'm a 12-year transplant with no plans to leave. I love Providence a lot, but that's partly because it meets my needs--there are a lot of people living here whose needs it doesn't meet at all.

Yeah, it's a fine line. The other day I was like, "Maybe I should get a second pair of glasses in case NO ONE EVER MAKES GLASSES AGAIN." Which, like, it's fine to get a second pair of glasses, but ... that's not why.

Am I right in remembering that you actually work on climate science?

Thanks for saying so. I'm glad I do it and it's good to hear that it strikes other people too.

One of the things I'm working on now is how to like--spread it out? Make its impact greater? Give it additional forms and ramifications? Anyway, check back on the blog in a week or so because there should be more about that soon.
