WMPoweruser.com : Video tutorial: How to make your own transparent wallpaper for your lock screen

The main screen isn't loaded until the phone is accessible (so unless the password has been entered, the home screen can't be seen). The transparency still exists, because if you change your phone's theme to 'Light', you'll see a white background instead. Therefore, when you see through your lock screen, you're only seeing the main background of the phone (black if the theme is dark and white if the theme is light).

WMPoweruser.com : Make Your WP7 Lock Screen Transparent To Show Homescreen

I've created a video tutorial which may help clarify the process. You can see it here: http://phone7.wordpress.com/2010/12/13/transparen...

It definitely works on the Mozart...I have one :) You have to make sure you're not saving it to the phone itself. When you see the email attachment, click on the "imagename.png" attachment. A 'cancel' button shows up. Wait for this cancel button to disappear then click on "imagename.png" again. This should open up the image in the picture viewer. From here, click on "use as wallpaper"

WMPoweruser.com : More WP7 transparent lock screen goodness!

True. Around the house and friend's houses, I'd have it unlocked. If I'm going out, I'd put a lock on it.

Hi Nilz, You have to make sure you're not saving the wallpaper to your phone. See the red writing in my blog post (link is in the article) and follow those steps exactly. Thanks

When you create a new file, select the entire image and press delete. You should now see a chequered pattern. This means it's transparent. Create a new layer and draw your image over it. Anywhere you can see the chequered pattern will be transparent. Save this as a PNG file (important) and that should do it :)

I think that's down to WP7 itself. It only loads all the tiles when you activate the lock screen by touching it, otherwise it would be draining the battery unnecessarily. If you have your theme as 'light', the background will be white and it will be black if your theme is 'dark'.

Hey everyone, glad you liked it. Thanks for the post Pradeep! I'm running it on the Mozart as well, but it seems that it doesn't work with the lock screen if there's a password. This might be by design as for privacy reasons, no one should be able to see your tile status is unless they know a password. I'll post if I find another way. Levi, to create the transparent bit simply make the background transparent in your art program, then create a new layer with the main background colour (mine was the greyish texture). Using the select tool, you can highlight the shape you want and press 'delete'. Let me know if you need any help with it (@keyboardP)

WMPoweruser.com : ICE App For Windows Phone 7

Hi Smith, Fear not, the UI is temporary :). This video is an early prototype demonstrating what the app can do. Once I get feedback and all the features are implemented, I'll improve the UI. The interface is in this video was just a temporary mock up demonstrating the ease of use. Thanks for the feedback!
