Lisa, this is so good. (identity must be spirit-theme today, cuz i just read shelly's words on bibledude, and it's over there, too!)
I *totally* relate to the shame of being a woman. And I will tell you the thing that is saving me lately is one little question I've got in bold letters on the white board in my kitchen:
What's naming you?
These things have a way of creeping in to the place of naming/identifying you, but like you said (so well!), I can choose to find myself in the fact that I am loved. That I am free. That I am paid for. That I am HIS.
Amen, friend. The refuge has never been sweeter.

it is comforting that alongside the deep grief in the world, there are also things to be so thankful for.

light and shadows always coexist, don't they?

blessings on your week.

What a way to start a mission trip. An audible reminder of Who actually makes good out of anything you can bring or do or say.

This was beautiful. Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you for the tears of truth that came with your bold words.

You don't know how this ministers to me . . . my birth-mother heart.

And what you said about hard things? Oh, this is medicinal. Doesn't always taste good going down, but it brings healing. Very well said.

So blessed to have stopped over from Ann's today.

Yes. I am a "people-watcher," too.

What a lot of good story-telling we miss when we're in too big a hurry to see it.

Great descriptive post.
Bless you!

Great post here! so glad I found you today!

A friend mentioned this very topic to me recently and coined a new phrase I have been tossing around in my mind. She said we need to give each other "liberty to learn". Isn't that just it??

If we're honest, we know we've all fallen off more times than we can count, but can we give each other space and grace? Can we allow for someone else's imperfections to show and not flip out --remembering that our own poke through sometimes, as well?

I think this may be one of the reasons for the masks. We feel so vulnerable, thinking we'll be kicked while we're down.
But if we purpose *just for me, just for today* to become a safe place for someone else . . . oh, what a breath of fresh air.

For the giver AND the receiver. Grace for grace.

Thanks for an excellent illustration!

And beautiful, too!

Love what you said here, Lisa.

I totally identify with your short testimony of wanting to be a "person of the book".
Have murdered with those letters that kill . . . and most of all reaped death, myself.

Just such a sweet focus for coming Resurrection Sunday!!
Thank you.

Bulls-eye. Dead center. Just Jesus.

"Let's not be more exclusive than Jesus was."
Great thought to put at the end . . . one I wish I'd come to much earlier in my journey.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." (Gal. 5:1) -- and isn't it so much more fun to live *setting others free* than strangling them with our passionate opinions, anyway???
