NO You are absolutely NOT a horrible mother! A GOOD mother is a HAPPY mother, and if going to get a tank of gas ALONE will make you a little happier, than that is what you need. I totally know what you mean. And being in the house starts to wear on you too. I am having to MAKE myself get us dressed and get out of the house or I would just sit here, in 2 nights ago PJs, watching Baby Einstein for the 8th time with Austin. It's all a vicious cycle. I would nurse Lyla and go. She may get upset, but Nate or your mom (whoever she knows 2nd best) can distract her with something NEW or something she LOVES, and she'll "get over it". If it's just for 10 minutes to go to the gas station she'll be fine. If you want to go for longer go to the mall, walk around a bit, and call every 10-15 minutes to check in. No you don't want her to cry for 2 hours, so keep checking. Then once she realizes it isn't SO bad for you to be gone for a little while, may be it'll get a little easier.
Also, have you tried a sippy cup? My friend started giving her babies sippy cups at 4 months (she is a diehard extended breastfeeder, baby led weaner, etc etc). May be the similarities of the nipple of the bottle to the nipple of your breast pisses her off. Austin won't take my breastmilk from a bottle or sippy cup. He'll only take something else. It makes him mad that he's getting it from somewhere else I guess? It's not the same? Idk... So change things up a little. May be find an alternative to your breastmilk to appease her. I asked Shari a couple weeks ago in Emily's chat about something I could give Austin in a pinch because I don't have milk in the freezer and she said I could give him rice milk every once in a while. He loves it. Now she did give me that info with a 10 month in mind, so Idk if it would be different for you. Have y'all tried giving her milk in a cup or finger feeding her or something like that? Do you have an LC or LLL in your area?
Love ya girl. You're a great mom. Having mommy guilt makes you a great mom I think :) Because you are thinking of ways to better yourself as a person for your little person.
