YES! Love your post! I think part of the reason I read so much YA is because I love the strong female characters. Which makes sense, since most of the authors are strong, independent women. I love Gwenda Bond's take on Lois Lane, and the author is equally bad ass- rocking blue hair and a southern accent.

I love Maggie Stiefvater- she's the reason I started working at the bookstore, because I would go there to pick up her doodled copies (which she does for just our store) and fell in love with the shop. When Raven King came out, I wasn't working yet at the store, but I took the day off to go downtown to pick it up, listening to the audiobook on the way.

Also love John Dies at the End and the sequel, This Book is Full of Spiders. :)

Love that cover of A Gathering of Shadows!

I haven't read The Wrath and the Dawn or The Rose and the Dagger, but I plan to this month because next month I get to host a author discussion at the bookstore I work at and Renee Ahdieh one of the authors!!! I can't wait to read her books!

And while I hate that the Raven Cycle is over, The Raven King was a perfect end to the series and it made my list too.

Richelle Mead does write some humorous characters, I don't know why I didn't think about that. I think I need to check out Rat Queens, Chew and Saga- I'm on a big graphic novel kick, and these look hilarious!

I want to read The Little Stranger too! Waters wrote the book my book club is still discussing almost 4 years later- The Fingersmith. She's an amazing writer!

I am so not a nonfiction Kathleen (although I am a Kathleen!), but I am challenging myself to read 10- one more than last year. Live Happy might get added to the list!
