The first was called Fredbear's Family Diner (or something, according to Phone Guy), and that's where the old animatronics originated, the ones that are torn up for spare parts in FNAF2. After the restaurant closes a second time, it reopens again a few years later, on a much smaller budget, using the older animatronics instead of the more advanced ones - and that's when the events of the first game begin. Also, the paycheck you get at the end of FNAF2 is dated 1987,and Phone Guy mentions in his last call that the restaurant is doing one last birthday party before closing it's doors - it's the party where the legendary Bite of '87 occurs. But we don't know all the answers - and that's what makes the game so damned creepy. Just a big huge world exploring epic - something they could never do in the confines of the show. This is a movie, a grand event, and they ought to take full advantage of it. I've mentioned before that the Return of Queen Chrysalis arc from the comic books could be a great basis for a movie. We're already too far removed from the Season 2 environment that it's set in to do a perfectly straight adaptation (and who knows what other major changes the show will go through between now and when the movie comes out?), but I'd still love to see Chrysalis return as the villain for the movie. She's the only one who wasn't outright defeated, and I feel like there's a ton more that the writers could do with her.
