They were probably made to all be jerks so they would contrast better with the CHS crew. Can't have Human!Twilight making any friends at her own school, though maybe one would have been good for drama or whatever.

Sunset Shimmer is originally from Equestria, right? She was Celestia's pupil before Twilight. So does that mean that she, too, has another version of herself in the Equestria Girls universe? And, shouldn't Sunset Shimmer be able to return to Equestria the way Pony!Twilight did?

I get that companies are out to make money, but if they care only about profit and nothing else they should sell off their assets and open a diamond mine or a boring-ass real estate investment group. I just don't see a little girl's letter affecting their bottom line in any significant way, and they ought to know better than to think otherwise. Plus, to be perfectly frank, I doubt her ideas were all that revelatory. Preemptively protecting their own asses above all else seems smart but I submit it's really not, exactly because of situations like this. Good will is worth more than gold, especially when your coffers are already full.
