And when you leave - no matter what the reason, leave well. It is good for all involved and you never know when you just might need walk back across that bridge (burn no bridges)
Great topic Ron. It is one we had to answer as a church. Over the past several years our community has gone from an upper middle class+ to a lower and below middle class. It has also been a major shift racially. The wife and I were also the 4th senior pastors in less than 5 years ago. That was two years ago. We are working hard to rebuild. For the most part we have been like a new church plant. We started by re-working our vision and mission and learning to say to no to a lot of great ideas that didn't fit that vision. We also have to make sure our leaders and our outreach teams reflect racial diversity. We are also looking to down size our building. It is a slow process but it looks like we are moving in the right direction.
Thanks Leslie for this lists. I have been using compfight and photopin but they are not always the best results.
Great list Ron - I would add the need to allow room to experiment which means it is OK to get something wrong. If the team feels they will be penalized if their ideas don't work out, they will be less likely to take the chances innovation requires.
Great list Ron. I would probably add self-aware to your definition of cognizance . A stellar leader needs to know themselves well.
Great post Ron, as an Introverted Pastor I can totally relate. I love to stand up front and preach but get me in small group with people I don't know well and it is a different story. I am actually surprised by how many pastors I know that are introverts.
Thanks Ron for this list. It is sad how many misquotes have become cliche that we repeat them without even thinking.
Good response Daniel. Jesus is not our fix-it man - He's our savior.
Interesting post Ron. Seems like he had several different circles - 70 - 12 - then 3 - He responded to each group differently.
As leaders the leaders we delegate are all at different areas of skill and growth. We need to be sure we customize how we deal with them.
Great at advice Ron - Those of who are introverts have to be very intentional on Sundays
