While I agree with the logic of having long tail keywords in the account for relevancy, this is always the issue that crops up. The (modified) broad match picks up thousands of variants, many of which convert, but individual conversions are typically just that, with that query never converting again. By adding them to the account you soon end up with thousands of long tail keywords with no traffic volume that Google refuses to show due to "Low Search Volume". Go too broad and you hit the low quality score due to not being relevant enough, so finding the right balance of a keyword with enough "long-tail-ness" to be highly relevant, while also being broad enough to have volume can often be quite tricky. I'll review anyone’s campaign and give you a few suggestions of things you can do to increase your ROI. My style is very aggressive but it’s been quite successful. Below is my contact info! I'll be expecting an email from you (or a quick call)! Thanks and good luck!

Using the (TM) or (R) on branded keywords has provided a boost in CTR for many of our ads in a recent test. Really, any special characters, aside from the overused "!" have helped differentiate our ads from the competition and given us an immediate boost. Our style is quite aggressive, and there are a few more suggestions I can make on your campaign. Below is my contact info. Email me (or give me a quick call)! Thanks and good luck! 240-455-3886, simon.b@resultsdriven.org

I have been quite successful using 10-20 keywords per ad grouping. Really, any more keywords than that and you'll most likely damage quality score and decrease your sales. I get quite aggressive in terms of increasing conversions by continually building out new groupings based on the competitors. Below is my contact info, email me (or give me a quick call), and I'll spend time with whomever brainstorming a few other quick ways you could increase ROI in your account. My email is simon.b@resultsdriven.org or my cell is 240-455-3886.

One of the coolest features we started using is the click to call feature for mobile devices. It’s pretty easy to setup, you just have to go in under the ad extensions tab and select the call extensions selection to set it up. Google charges on a per call basis but it’s a lot cheaper and more cost-effective than paying per click we also have the upgraded service which allows you to track and record our calls but that’s done separately. If you're interested in that, I recommend you call Simon his number is 240-455-3886 and email is simon.a@resultsdriven.org. We’ve been using him to manage our campaigns for the last 2 years and leads are pretty steady.

You are 100% right about utilizing targeted ad copy and keyword structure - we have a client in the automotive tires/rims business and it is mostly about long tail for them with specific radius and wheel width sizes doing really well in aggregate. If you’d like me to look at your account and brainstorm some suggestions email me at simon.a@resultsdriven.org or we can setup a quick call if you prefer phone 240-455-3886.

That’s pretty interesting. For my company, the biggest problem with Adwords I've had was getting a good ROI on advertising. We've spent a little over $5000 but we weren't getting any leads of people interested in buying our US-made Adirondack chairs. We started consulting with a company who basically told us though that our targeting was too broad and the way to go is lots of exact match keywords, consolidated ad groups (all our groups are less than 20 keywords now), and including lots of long-tail keywords. If you want, I’d recommend emailing him or what not if at least for the free PPC account audit, it helped us out and increased our sales a bit after the economy downturned here. His email is simon.a@resultsdriven.org hope that helps!
