It's an image of Christ on the cross, flanked by his mother on one side and the apostle John on the other, and two angels. The artisans of the British Isles were not known for their highly sophisticated representations at this point in history, as you can see.

Why, yes, think of it this way--the experience might have been painful for you, but you were able to put me onto the trail of a new book about Celtic history that I might be interested in, so you did not suffer in vain. See, the sacrifices we book bloggers make for our reading public, right? :)
