Not impressed here with Rep. Maloney's logic. He was "for it before he was against it." This is exactly the time we need principled, progressive voices in Congress who take a stand on values no matter what the pollsters think. He has become the epitome of "empty suit." This is exactly why I will never give money to the so-called "Victory Fund." Merely being gay may have been enough to get my support once. It no longer is.

With an appropriate disclaimer in the lease and a rental fee that covers all related costs and ensures that not one dime of taxpayer money will go to support these churches, all constitutional objections to churches using schools could be answered. But as a gay man, I'm a bit insulted that you claim that the candidate's position is "hostile to the interests of the LGBT community." Churches renting school facilities might include pro-lgbt churches like the Metropolitan Community Church, Unitarian Universalist or United Church of Christ denominations or nondenominational churches the Revolution Church in Williamsburg. Assuming that all religion is anti-LGBT is wrong. But denying the right of an organization to use a public facility on the basis of theology or ideology is also dangerous to the separation of church and state.

That's nice to look around and see things "you had a hand in." Feel free to brag about them if you want but I am quite sure you did not do any of these things by yourself. This article makes you sound like quite a bully who is not liked by other bullies. Like you, I opposed Quinn for Mayor and supported DeBlasio, because we do not need a bully as mayor like the one we had for the last 12 years. You talk about "unity of purpose" but then disparage other leaders for disagreeing with you. Sorry, it just sounds too much like you want only unity of YOUR purpose. And btw, even if you don't like Duane, Glick or Hoylman, they are NOT Carmine deSapio and you are not Ed Koch.

And how old or beautiful might you be?

I have known Assemblywoman Glick, Rachel Lavine, Tom Duane and other progressive politicians and activists since the mid-eighties. I have tremendous respect for each of them and even consider them friends. I am sorry that they are hurt by Quinn's loss, but they are wrong about its causes. It was not sexism or homophobia that defeated Quinn, but her betrayal of the voters will by helping the Mayor get a third term, doing her best to defeat progressive issues like paid sick leave and living wage. These are not the actions of a progressive, but of a power monger. These accusations of bigotry on the part of the voters are just cheap shots. The LGBT community is much smarter than they think. Any gay will NOT do anymore.

DeBlasio all the way.

Quinn babbles on about "getting things done," but was strangely passive when it came to St. Vincent's. Now she goes around saying she "worked harder than anybody" to save it. Next, she goes around taking credit for marriage equality when that vote had absolutely nothing to do with her.

So the upshot is "I'm totally powerless to save a hospital in the heart of my district" but then "I'm all powerful because I can control the state legislature in Albany to get them to vote my way on marriage equality." Which is it Chris?

Oh my! I haven't laughed this hard in years. What a bunch of losers! Not the communists, the right-wing freaks who troll on this site. You must be kidding! Really, the CPUSA is a tiny fringe group that presents absolutely no threat to the nation, at least not any more threat than the John Birch Society or the loonier elements of the Tea Party. Honestly, if the loony right wing weren't so visible at the moment, the few remaining CPers wouldn't even be an afterthought, but they get their steam from their mirror opposites.

Please people. Get some lives!
