If you call cornmeal/grits "polenta" it magically becomes schmancy dinner food and if you show your kids youtube videos of big communal table polenta you can try to just dump it all on one big ass plate and you've got one dish and one pot to wash afterwards.

Oh, nah. The python class is just a requirement for the associates. I've used arc and qgis before (one for a class one for my own edification) and know enough python already that I can probably breeze through a 101 without even googling.

It's more about my chronic inability to like... sell myself, so having an official credential instead of just being like "oh yeah I can do that sure". Plus I have so many transfer credits an associates is like 8 classes so... Naked credentialism ahoy! Was the plan until I ran up against the reality of having to motivate myself. Plus GIS is very synergetic with geologist related job openings.

Also I'm incapable of internalizing the idea that there is any actual path to 'a better life' than more education, so if two degrees didn't do it: just gotta keep stacking that paper.

I was going to start working towards an associates in GIS at the local community college. so it's currently a full semester of intro level classes: python, physical geography, GIS, SQL/databases, and then a C++ class... which being intro level I'm sure I could handle that load... but I think seeing half a dozen classes worth of work piled up in one lump instead of split over a couple days kinda pulled me up short, and they all want to like interact on the discussion board and two are taking attendance... just yeah.

I might keep the intro python, it seems like the least work and it would still give me something to do that isn't Target.

Well I was going to start some online classes today/this week and then I logged into blackboard and felt a little like I was going to vomit...

so I think I'm dropping most/all of those

I'll be contrarian and say pea soup, if part of the point is being to busy to cook I tend to think a lump of legume keeps you full longer.

I got mail, manka's handwriting is sufficiently impeccable that I thought the address on the envelope was a computer handwriting font.

Otherwise the best thing I've seen was all the bubbles in my sourdough starter. This is like the third or fourth time I've tried to get one going over the years and this one has actually taken off. So I'll be in bread come sunday probably.

Also: every night recently they've been signing off with

"Good night kind friends.
Tomorrow we care for one another all over again"

and it gets me every time.

I have been feeling weirdly tempted by the idea of flowers recently, though I've got more plants than I should have right now.
