Yup. But we can't do that because then the crux of most posts fall flat without that magic "three million" remark every week.

You're spot on regarding what the territories brought to a wrestler's skill level and what the lack of them has done to the current product (to some extent obviously).

That said, what is with your ratings hard on? I've said it before...in the modern era of media ratings should only matter to sales people trying to justify their job and milk advertisers out of money as it relates to target demographics. Between live streams, the network, post-live streams, and even just YouTube highlights...there's more than enough options out there. Particularly when you have more and more people cutting their cable/satellite provider. If you combined the other methods I just mentioned with the ratings, numbers would no doubt clear that magic 3 million mark you often refer to. But ratings will never show those numbers because they can't. At the end of it all, ratings no longer show all the viewers and we need to stop pretending that it does.

A better question is why write about ratings in 2018...

Why in this day and age does anyone put stock in ratings? For years now the internet has provided ample opportunity to watch any program without cable/satellite/any type of network. You can do so live, or you can watch it after the fact. The precious network numbers and tv ratings (that are beyond archaic in the current state of media) don't show that and if it did you can bet the "failing" numbers that people are always refer to would look a lot better. The only people who put legitimate stock in ratings numbers are ad execs and sales reps trying to justify commercial air time.

I think that's partly because this should have been built to at WrestleMania. Now, pretty much no one cares because the nonsensical back and forth of the story went months too long.

People don't boo Reigns for the sake of booing. And they didn't boo Cena for the sake of booing. Both of these guys suffer the fan reaction they do because of how they are BOOKED. You said it yourself, he main evented his 4th Wrestlemania. Tito summed up all the main stars WWE has put him over cleanly. The fans still don't get behind him because he's being force-fed as the face of the company. Had they let him grow organically, he probably would be a huge star right now.

Is he a great wrestler as you suggest? No. Not even close. Is he a GOOD wrestler? Absolutely. WWE just needs to understand that you can't tell the fans, in this day and age, who to cheer for as "the guy." They tried doing the exact opposite with Daniel Bryan and look how that turned out.

I love that I didn't even have to look at the name to see who tossed out such a blatant comment.

Imagine 3MB coming out of the Lake of Reincarnation. Or Kofi's accent.

I would think at some point that match versus the Miz is set in stone. Something as simple as a cross brand match at SummerSlam. The heat on that match would be nuclear.
