The calls for greater transparency and a longer discussion are not aimed at the legislature, they are aimed at the UW administration. There is also a hope that through longer discussion, supporters of the NBP will be able to give articulate arguments in the plan's favor, instead of vague platitudes about "flexibilities" and "tools."

I tend to support the idea of NBP, especially if it actually succeeds at creating more scholarships for low-income students. But supporters of the plan, including the chancellor, have provided very few facts to support it.

I think this comment offered the most compelling point:

"Have a thought? We welcome your input, but please be polite and stay on topic wherever possible. Your comment may be deleted if it is inappropriately off topic or promotional or if it is unnecessarily rude or contains personal attacks. We may delete comments for other reasons as well. Just keep it simple and focus on your points as respectfully as possible."

Wait. So this doesn't apply for your baseless editorials, then?

Patrick, you left out the fact that the Young Progressives are affiliated with Organizing for America, Obama's group. So it is under the umbrella of the Democratic Party.
