http://www.polkadothippo.com/ : Sad, sad, crying baby.

I did "fuss it out" (I like to call it that because they never usually got to full-on sobbing) with both A & Z around 5mos. BEST THING TO TEACH A BABY, in my opinion. It doesn't take them long to get it & from that point on, as long as they're not sick or anything? I could just lay them down, maybe go in a few times for a binky reset, etc & maybe 20-30mins, they'd be asleep. Zach rarely fusses anymore, usually just babbles and rolls around until he gets sleepy. Babies who can put themselves to sleep are priceless. I have 2 other kids & I do NOT have time to rock rock rock a baby for hours every day! Good luck!!! I hope he catches on! Don't feel evil, you are doing a good thing for him in the long run! :)

This is so IT. Everyone is just trying to validate their own decisions and choices... and whether they (or we!) mean to or not, it can cut other people down in the process. Sad. This is a great post, love it!!!

http://www.polkadothippo.com/ : 9 More Days

Quitting a job is a surefire way to find out how a workplace REALLY feels about you. When I quit my last job before full-time freelancing, I put in a standard 2wks notice. They called me the next day and told me not to come back in. When I asked why, they said, don't worry, we'll pay you for the 2 weeks, it's just that we're worried you're stealing from the company and legal is concerned. UM WHAT THE EFF??!?! (The company worked in the same industry- web- and I guess they thought I would steal clients or something? Which- if I was REALLY going to do that- don't you think I would take the client list BEFORE I gave my notice? I MEAN, COME ON.) They even escorted me to my desk while I got my things that next morning. Talk about feeling like a criminal! Now, obviously they didn't REALLY think this or they wouldn't have paid me for the 2 weeks, etc. But they tried to throw the non-compete in my face, which had no grounds since I never saw it until after my first day etc etc and it all ended just fine. But still. It was shady and weird and really hurt me, I'll be honest, because I was SO STRESSED about quitting and felt awful and agonized over the decision and TOLD THEM THAT! and I was fully prepared to spend a busy 2 weeks handing off my projects but in the end, my poor coworkers had to scramble to figure stuff out. Way to go, Management! All of that to say- DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THEM. It's their insecurities and weirdness that makes them act/say those things. You are doing what's right for you and you owe that company and your coworkers NOTHING. And sadly, they would probably all throw you under the bus a heartbeat... :/ Onward to better things!!!! :) :) My recent post just a Thursday

http://www.grumblesandgrunts.com/ : Jekyll and Hyde

I have a video somewhere of Maggie having a complete effing meltdown over her ripped ("broken") cheese... let me find it... http://www.flickr.com/photos/jayesel/3529372511/i... There. Classic Two. Three is worse (as you've heard, I'm sure) mostly because at two, the meltdowns and tantrums are relatively short-lived and less... malicious? Once Maggie was three, they changed somehow and would last HOURS, I SWEAR, and there was thought and EVIL behind them or something. But at two? They are entertaining, and you're right- there is plenty of Adorableness to balance it out. I loved two and I can't wait for Audrey to be that age :) It was my favorite! My recent post daily dose of cute

I go through phases like that now and then. Where 'keeping up' just feels... so OVERWHELMING, geez. So I lurk, don't comment or join in, and feel disconnected a bit. Then after a few days, I'm annoyingly butting into other people's conversations on Twitter, just like always. LOL I had a chance for a night out last night and when I was planning who to call for a night out, I realized... 99% of my friends are in the computer. Sad. I wish we could all get together on regular basis and REALLY connect, over chocolate and drinks, preferably.
