But yeah... Nintendo is known to do CONTRARY to what others do.
Show some footage, and then make the final poduct BETTER.
Contrary to: Show unrealistically pretty initial footage to hype people up! and then slowly downgrade the game with trailers so it doesn't count as false advertisement, and then finally release an even worse game in quality.
Which is, in nintendo's case, a BETTER business practice in my opinion.

Now we wait for them to get together an account system so games aren't tied to your console and lost if something were to happen to your system, and we'll have some really modern and robust online infrastructure that is reliable, and where you don't fear for your downloads.

What the feature does is that you can actually download a game BEFORE its release, but it will be locked until the game releases. As soon as it releases you can play it.
Why is it good? Some people dont have the fastest download speeds, and even those who do, there are some games that have VERY HIGH capacity. And multiple tens of GBs can take quite some time to download. And you don't want to wait a day (or even multiple days) to download a game and play it do you?
well you're in luck! you can do the ( or do most of the) downloading part before the game even releases! and you can outright play it on release date :)
It makes alot of sense on steam..some games are like 60+GB big.
