Hi, I don't drop by as much anymore, partly because I'm doing this: purelintrash.tumblr.com. Seeing as there's so many Lin fans here, I thought I would mention it. I was so excited to finally see an LMM article in The Toast! And it was delightful. I particularly love the descriptions of the cake and of LMM's eyes.

Second the thanks to Nicole and Hamiltoasts for getting me into Hamilton just in time to get tickets (and good seats for this short person)! (i.e., back in October for end of June)

Feeling a bit of trepidation about the New York trip, plus kind of expecting to stick out like a sore thumb as tourists because my mom and sister decided to make a girls' trip of it with me and they have like no experience with mass transit and cabs and I don't know... but I guess the key is planning interesting things for us to do and I know there's no shortage of that so I'm sure it'll work out.

Also we're just there for a long weekend and I know I'll be devoting a goodly amount of time to stagedooring and attending the #Ham4Ham so I have, like, that certainty? Anyway basically the key is to not psych myself out about being around unfamiliar stuff and I think I can do that.

I am collecting all the Toastie recommendations and very grateful for them!

I'll have to look at that! I don't even know Scandal, but I just keep coming across things I like that I never would have thought I'd even be interested in. Hamilton... it's a gift that keeps on giving. (Um, if you are at all amenable to rpf, I have a few recommendations in that area as well. Some great writers. Also, not quite all the way that naughty, is rillrill's Quid Pro Quo modern AU.)

Ohh, perfect. Was coming here to suggest this Hamilton AU fanfic that just seems so relevant to the Hamilton Toast's interests. Ah, basically... it's all our boys and gals from the musical. Except in England. And it's a Regency-style fic, quite thoroughly from what I can gather (I'm not the most experienced reader of the genre), from the setting to the plot to the narrator to the descriptions of the characters. And... it's a matriarchy. (Yes, Angelica and Eliza are major characters.) Hamilton does start out on St. Croix, like canon, except things are a bit ~different, and so instead of a free educated man in the colonies he ends up the ward of distant relations in England, with exactly the options and prospects of a woman in that circumstance in our history. I LOVE IT.

It's funny and horrifying and satisfying and just, really delightful. Like this wonderful blend of Austen, etc., Atwood, and really delightful fanfic Alexander. Anyway, here is the author's summary and I think some of y'all might REALLY enjoy it, so I hope maybe you check it out. *hopeful, self-effacing grin*

I'm really sorry if this is pushy or inappropriate, in which case please ignore, but I am kind of an evangelist about this... with Obamacare I now have a good individual health insurance policy (albeit $1000 deductible, but free preventive care and very little in the way of copays or coinsurance) for under $40 a month (last year it was $48 and it went down!).

Before, I had a BC/BS plan that went from something like $80 to $210 a month in like five years, and didn't cover mental health. This year I was able to get crucial mental health treatment, like I don't know what I would have done without it. Anyway sorry to butt in and I apologize for my presumption here ugh, but maybe this will be helpful for somebody.

Doesn't help your immediate situation, sorry to hear about what you have to deal with right now! Hope things turn around soon.
