Anyone else listening to Tanis? I just started this morning and I am so hooked that I subscribed to their Patreon after the third episode. It hits all my horror/scifi buttons.

Congrats on writing so much! I'm 32 and in a similar boat - I've been working on a fanfic series that's quickly approaching 100k and even though it's been so much fun, I've been nervous/worried that it's a waste of time and effort. It's not *adult*, I berate myself. It's not *productive*.

Reading this article and your comment help to assuage those feelings! Sometimes it's nice to have a stamp of approval.

I've been reading an awesome Mad Max: Fury Road/His Dark Materials crossover: Flesh and Blood and Dust. Sad and beautiful and triumphant.

I'm getting back into Harry Potter fic. I've been feeling nostalgic lately! Thank you, the Rec Center.

And I'm still writing my Mad Max fic - which is now a series. When I post this chapter, it'll be over 80,000 words. It's silly, but I'm pretty proud of myself!

That made me so angry about Jessica Jones, too! She supposedly lives in a bad apartment in a bad neighborhood, but her actually living space is huge and gorgeous.

For a while I was listening to books from Libri Vox (http://librivox.org/). They're free! Which results in a huge spectrum of quality... but free!

Congrats! I hope you like it here!

1) NYC is super dog friendly. It can be hard to find a place in general because we're in a housing crisis, but my experience is that most places allow pets. People walk their dogs everywhere - Just clean up after him/her. A lot of parks have enclosed dog areas, too.
2a) The great thing about NYC is the public transportation! The subway is 24/7. And biking is getting way more popular and safer! Cost is going to be killer, though. Manhattan is expensive, so are a lot of places in Brooklyn, and Queens is getting up there.
2b) NYC is safe. There are a few neighborhoods that I wouldn't walk in alone at night (as a cis woman) but I've lived here since 2002 and I've never been mugged or attacked. In fact, I Quant NY just released a cool comparison of NYC neighborhoods: http://iquantny.tumblr.com/post/141186244069/new-...
3) Visit visit visit. In my (and my friends') experience, it's hard to find housing. It's even harder to find good housing.

I also need make-up help! Have you/has anyone tried the Sephora makeover service? I've never worn make-up and I desperately need to start.

Whenever people talk about Hamilton, I think about this song. The original rap about our forefathers!
