Yeah, but you also have a weird Victorian aversion to even the best dishonesty.

Like, there was that bit where her fundie aunt offered to send her to school if she'd stop reading novels and she agonized and agonized and finally did it three chapters later, and I was like "...*send* you to school, so she's not going to be there, so...say whatever she wants to hear? Not...seeing the issue?"

Yeah, although as a childless-by-choice woman, I always get kind of prickly at the equation of "don't want kids" with "shallow and selfish".

Also, Ellen was the *worst*. Which is too bad, because she has great dialogue, but: THE WORST.

Public transit. Except then someone would sit on me.

...good luck with that, New Hampshire? I live in MA, used to live in ME, and NH...I know and love some of its citizens, but the state as a whole is like the Discount Vermont, but with shittier drivers.

Yep. I'm seriously considering posting a "if you 'protest vote' or stay home because blah blah lesser of two evils blah blah, just go ahead and stop talking to me now" statement between now and November.

Because I do not need those people in my life.

Likewise, and this is why I do paranormal historical. Because I get things as right as plausible but at the end of the day, fuck it, there's magic, I am not realistically portraying sexism and zero indoor plumbing.

I have gotten reviews using the term "Regency" for my books, which take place in the 1880s. Nice people and all, but.

I do not know your dad, but I love him.

I always hear his name as "Hastur", which is...not inappropriate, really.
