Thanks Erin! Yes, it's a totally personal decision, and the point of this post was to get people to think outside the "bio then adopt" box that seems to be what most do.

Lisa, I was talking about my own family. And who am I to say? Well . . . I'm not speaking for myself. I'm speaking for my son Jafta. And he talks ALL THE TIME about what it means to have a brother who matches. Adoptees are the voices who matter on this, not mine. Please do some research and listen to those who have walked this road. Also, again, my family looked like this for a while too. As do the families of many people I love and care about. I'm not shaming. I'm just speaking about what is best based on the research I've done.

No, I did not say the train left the station. This post was geared to people who are still in the planning stages. I've absolutely not said that people with bio kids shouldn't adopt.

I would really encourage you to read the writings of adult adoptees on this topic. In Their Own Voices is a great one on this. The sibling thing DOES matter to kids. And I'm sorry that some families feel slighted by me mentioning it, but it needs to be said. It was true in my family and it is true for most adult adoptees.

Yes, I know they are not biological twins. But the parenting issues are the same as biological twins. And SEO is not something I've ever paid a bit of attention to.

You may not have a problem with it, but if they are receiving a profit for human tissue, it is illegal. And there is a reason so many PP affiliates don't engage in the practice. I think it's an ethical gray area. I'm not bothered by the donation but I was bothered by the woman who described it as a revenue stream.

Cinna, are you seriously trying to shame me for having a housekeeper? What in the world? I work full time and have four kids. Why shouldn't I pay someone to clean while I get to do things with my kids? It's not a waste of time to do things with them, and for me it's not a waste of money either. It totally works for me and I'm not the least bit embarrassed. But nice try.

I'm still not reading anything that warrants the way those kids were treated. So, there was a DJ? They were loud? People were jumping the pool gate? Some had baggy clothes on? Sounds like any number of pool parties I attended as a kid. And this person is conveniently leaving out the eye-witness account of both the party host and her mother, that residents were making racist remarks to children.
