What a great post, Nelleke! Many of these are favorites of ours, too. I LOVE Christmas Day in the Morning, and do you know I think I failed to read that one aloud this year?!? I need to look for Holly & Ivy.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Yes! Yes! Yes!s I love this post! Every one of these, with the exception of Amos & Boris (which I've never read--can you believe it?!?!?) are such wonderful book! (I've actually only read Arnosky's Thunder Birds of the ones you mention, but others of his are equally as wonderful, I'm sure.) Fabulous post!

Regarding Snowflake Bentley, have you seen this video? http://vimeo.com/87342468

I just bought a Cheryl Harness book on a field trip on Friday! Unfortunately, I can NEVER complete these Rafflecopter entries. In fact, I can't (for some reason) even begin this one. I don't know if it's my technological ineptitude or my computer, but it won't open at all. I also don't like having to sign in through FB, etc. My girls are HUGE LIW fans, and in fact, we saw Pa's fiddle just this past summer in Mansfield. I'll have to look Ms. Harness up!

Oh, so much to love here! Can you believe I've never seen the Coviille books?!? And my girls would LOVE The Rainbow Fairy Book! They've read and re-read the originals! Thank you so much for sharing these gems!

Excellent insights! I've never read Watership Down, but I'm inspired to try it some day now.

A belated happy birthday to you! I love visiting your blog because it always brings back one of the happiest weeks of my life--our honeymoon on PEI. We visited an amusement park while we were there, though I can't recall its name. Is there still an amusement park there?

Ah, we ate at Cows on our honeymoon fifteen years ago this month!

Your LAST paragraph is what that last sentence should say. :)

Thank you, Nelleke, for sharing this. This has been a huge issue for me lately, so I really needed to read this. (Maybe I should read CM, too!). I especially love your let paragraph.

Each of these is one I remember reading to my girls! (They must've made an impression on me, considering how many picture books I read to them.). I love Milne, too. I think it's time to revisit Winnie the Pooh with my girls now that they're old enough to really get it.

So glad you're playing along!
