I love avgolemono soup but I don't make it very often. I think I'll make it soon!

I love the idea of serving food from the same cuisine as the place in the movie. That's a great idea and I think I'm going to steal it! We don't do date nights much. We certainly don't go out to do them. Sometimes I will cook something special but to be honest, we are kind of lazy on this. Since it's just the two of us, our entire lives are basically a date hehe. The pasta looks delicious! My rosemary plant is growing nicely and I'm always looking for more things to do with it.

those look great! I wish I had taken more before photos of my balcony garden. I've only killed one plant so far and I'm feeling pretty positive. Maybe 2012 is the year for gardening success!!! :)

I have terrible "luck" (i.e., skill) with plants but even so, I went nuts this spring and planted a ton of herbs and veggies in containers on our little balcony. I'm sure they will all die soon. But I am enjoying them for now!! (The best one is the olive tree in a pot.)

Because I moved to Greece with the clothes on my back (and 2 suitcases), I don't have anything like that here. All my treasured items are in my parents' house (or basement). Someday I hope to incorporate them into my home again. That is a very lovely S&P set!

Well, I guess you inspired me. I reorganized the spice area in my baking cabinet so things are a little easier to get to. I would love to do a simple shelf - I could fit a really long, like 10 foot long shelf, and just line them all up end to end - the problem is that we are renting, and the walls are concrete and it's not a simple matter of putting a few screws into some drywall. We're covered in case of earthquake, but we can't really put anything on the walls. However, something like a wine box, I could add internal shelves easily, and just stand it up on the bar in the kitchen, that would be easy. It's an idea! I will have to keep my eyes open for materials. I'm always changing things around in my quest to fit more stuff into my kitchen and to make it more functional and organized. My kitchen is awesome by Greek city apartment standards but I think I would run out of space in a restaurant kitchen if given the chance!

There are a lot of pins on your board that I love!! I think we have similar organization aspirations. I store my ribbon on a wire hanger :D The spice drawer where they're not tilted (the black tops with white writing) is how I used to store mine on the island, but I have such mismatched jars, and I REALLY need my drawers for knives and measuring spoons. I love the idea to find some local copper mini jars. I don't know if they have anything like that, or if copper would react with anything (?? no idea) but they would look amazing and I would have to display them somewhere visible!

That looks great! I am a spice addict, and my kitchen lacks drawers (severely - I can't even put my forks and spoons in a drawer!). For now, I have my constantly used spices in a cabinet near the stove, in a basket so I can just pull out the whole basket and find them more easily. Then the spices that I don't use as often , plus the herbs (which are in much larger bottles) are across the kitchen in the baking cabinet. They are stacked two high and in rows meaning that it takes about five hands to remove some of them. And it's illogical because I have the stuff I use the most in the largest jars (oregano, parsley, etc) but because they're the large jars, they are in the back row and have other jars on top of them. So the jars I almost never use, like horseradish powder and mahlepi, are in the front and easiest to access. It's maddening but I can't figure out what to do about it. I keep saying I will do something but since my budget would be €0.00, it's kind of hard to make any real changes.

slightly off topic, am I the only one who is obsessed with refilling my spice jars? I love playing with them... I love roasting and grinding spice mixes like garam masala and such. Which is a good thing because they don't sell mixes here.

I've never gone camping and I really should, after all it's the frugal way! My husband has gone on camping trips lasting longer than a month but I just don't know what I would do without running water!! I would want an air mattress too!

it looks great!! I just posted my own linen closet makeover - yours is so much bigger... I wish I had more space but hey, I'm just grateful that I have a linen closet at all; my last house didn't have one!
