But their "responsibility" involves kicking common decency in the face for the sake of continued profit. Instead of trying to continually gather more money than they could ever use, more of the super-rich should use their excess wealth to do good works, like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates are, and they're considered saints among the wealthy in spite of being the two richest people on the planet. Not only will it benefit those who aren't as ridiculously fortunate as they are, but it will do wonders for their own public image and if you believe that sort of thing, their personal karma. I do not know if this is active malevolence on the part of the super-rich or sheer ignorance, but they don't fully grasp the good they can do if they just stopped concerning themselves with making themselves richer so they can buy more ultimately useless things. They also don't understand that even though they may get taxed a higher percentage, they can afford to take the hit, while the poor can't. It goes for everyone, but if we all spent a day in each other's shoes, we'd understand each other a lot more.
