I just go this out of the library, and I am so stoked to read it. Glad to hear you thought it was AWESOME.

I read this book about a year ago, and it wasn't my cup of tea. I do love war stories, though, so I was rather disappointed. :/ Crane's Maggie: Girl of the Streets isn't bad, but I just don't think he is for me.

OKAY. I absolutely LOVED the show, but I have only watched the first season. I just feel so emotionally overwhelmed at the prospect of going on to a season without Eddard Stark. I need to get over myself.

Anyways, I have also yet to read the books, but I really do want to as I love fantasy novels and the show. Alas, alas.

I read A Thousand Splendid Suns before I read The Kite Runner (I was also disappointed), and I was absolutely sucked in. I agree that it was extremely depressing (heck, I was sitting at the salon I was working at crying profusely while reading it. It was a slow day ;), but truthfully, life isn't all buttercups and rainbows. I appreciated it for its reality. Plus I like to cry. Great review!

Yesss, I loved this one! I've wanted to watch the movie, but it always slips my mind. I remember when it was being released, and I was all set to see it, but then it didn't have a wide enough release to make it to my city. Ahh, well. I've actually just looked up some more of McCarthy's work because of your post. He's certainly one I want to check out more.

I read The Kite Runner not too long ago, but I do think that I really prefer Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns. As for Everything is Illuminated, I much preferred Foer's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Lolita and Jane Eyre are definitely worth the read, though! The subject matter of Lolita is certainly off, but it's so interesting how Nobokov presents it to you. Also, I read Jane Eyre earlier this year and loved it! It's worth a shot.

Oh my goodness! Baby!

I hope you enjoy the rest of the His Dark Materials series-- I think the second one was my favorite.

My brother and I walked by this when we were down there, but we didn't stop in. Mainly because my brother does not like books but alas. It looked pretty neat from the outside!

Hope you love Cloud Atlas! I think it's a good book to read along with others... that's for sure.
