Love this idea for a post! Best scent memory for me would be cinnamon rolls.

You are fabulous! I remember your list of strengths. They are still true. They are still you.

I could have written this post myself. It IS hard to find the balance between my own passions and the needs of my family. But I think it's even harder to stay authentic as I write. It's all too easy to publish a list of things I think other people should do, but it's hard to apply that same list to my OWN life.

I love this! I want to be the very best me that I can be! And I'm very thankful that I'm not the woman that I thought I "should" be when I was 16! (she would be a lot less fun to be around.)

First, thanks for the shout out! I tried to read and comment this weekend, but the campsite was having NONE of that.

Second, you are spot on. The afternoon transition back into "mom mode" will make or break the rest of my day. It's particularly hard because you really don't know what you're getting for the afternoon. Sometimes, the kids are happy and playful and low maintenance. Other times, they have extra homework. Worst is the "color change" days where a child has done something at school that requires at-home discussion and discipline. Being mentally prepared for all scenarios is tough. I find it helps to set the last 30 minutes of "me time" as "get it done" time to finish up my tasks at home. I literally set the alarm on my phone! Then I get to car line early so I am forced to sit still and relax for a few minutes. I like to use the time to crochet or read, but I've been known to sneak in a 10 minute power nap too.
