PS- Mornings are really hard for me too. My therapist actually said our bodies release more cortisol (the stress hormone) in the mornings to help wake us up. Awesome. :)

This happens to me a LOT when I feel OCD and anxiety creeping in. It always happens in the winter. And then I start having all these thoughts about how I haven't gotten any better and how I'm always going to be in this depressing hole. Then I try to focus on how not to get worse. I try to do things to keep my OCD at bay. And what is that? A compulsion! I can even turn therapy into compulsions. For a long time I believed that if I wrote an ERP script, I would get better and my anxiety would go away. That's not true at all. I'm trying to let myself just be. I can practice healthy mental habits, but in reality, a lot of them time, it's our chemicals that mess with us. For so long I tried to identify patterns so I could prevent OCD from happening. Sometimes it's just hormones and brain chemistry. :)

Hey this new layout is awesome! Sorry I haven't stopped by in a while. Life seems to be getting hectic. I like this post a lot. Sometimes I will not read my Bible if I'm feeling compulsive. This week it seems like I have a lot more true interest in spending time with God instead of feeling like a slave to the rituals OCD is telling me to do or God will be disappointed in me. I think you are definitely taking advantage of ERP and are having a balance. OCD wants us to be black and white: either we read our Bible at the same time, for the same amount of time, the same amount of Scripture, etc. or we don't read it at all. I'm finding there's good in the grey. Some days I don't read my Bible, some days I do. Some days I delay my reading until the evening, some days I read it in the morning.
