Ah no, there were two - one from March to April, and then one from April:

(I know it seems a long time ago to all of us!)

The first is not relevant, and the second simply untrue - anything over 100,000 signatures gets the same treatment.

You're aware that the government has already replied, yes?

There is, I suspect, no chance of the scenario presented happening. May is a creature of duty, and believes everyone else should see duty in the same way as her - everything else is a distraction to be overcome and not further dwelt upon.

I think it's more likely that Mark has just been reading the papers:

"EU migrant workers contribute £2,300 more per year to UK than average British citizen, study reveals
'If the UK’s new relationship with Europe involves reduced migration, this analysis suggests the tax burden on others will have to rise'"

I think this is more embarrassing because this isn't specialist knowledge, this is something any schoolchild should ideally know about a member of the UK - and so this underlines the fact that Northern Ireland practically isn't a member, or is down with the channel islands and Gibraltar in the consciousness of 'the mainland'.

See also the vox pop video from last year where nearly no-one, stopped on the street, could draw the UK's only land border with any kind of accuracy - and some explained this by saying that it wasn't of concern since the troubles ended.

You might want to work on your analogies, but I completely agree with your last paragraph. That hardly seems the point, though? My friend the Greengrocer would not have these things said about him if he had some other job.

If I were to say "For a Greengrocer, he has very small hands", that could be seen as a criticism, but not of Greengrocers?

They, er, seem to be independent variables to me, but possibly I'm not following you?

No, I'm comfortable with that as the definition - but I'd note that it derides the target for having 'sold out to old "Honky"', rather than for the colour of their skin.
