GregoryPittman.com : Can Spotify Replace iTunes?

Since iTunes is built into the iPhone, there really wouldn't be a reason not to use it in addition to Spotify if you already have music on the device. I started from scratch since the specific iPhone I'm using is brand new. And I don't listen to a lot of podcasts. I had a Droid for only a few weeks, so I'm not quite sure how that workflow would go. I know there are podcast apps for the Droid, so you could conceivably bypass iTunes if you wanted to. Like I said, I don't have much experience with a Droid, so that may or may not be more work than it's worth.

IsaiahSix.org : It's Not a Performance

I agree, Ken. In a longtime ministry setting, this takes a good bit of education. In a setting like the one mentioned in the post, we simply pray that will happen. We might get the chance to print that idea in a bulletin or worship guide or verbally announce that prior to the service, but other than that, we have to leave that in God's capable hands.

IsaiahSix.org : Private Worship Through Scripture Memorization

Thanks, John. I think the lock screen idea is excellent. As many times as I look at my iPhone throughout the day, I may be able to memorize the book of Romans inside of a week. ;-)

IsaiahSix.org : Copyright Law and the Church

I'm not sure there's an either/or argument here, Clay. It's a both/and discussion. I think we can use music in a proper way while maintaining our integrity. The easiest method of doing this is to apply for license such as those offered by CCLI. Pay for the license, which is quite affordable, and report your usage every two or three years. It's the best of both worlds.

IsaiahSix.org : The Cafeteria of Worship Services

No, Harvey, I don't think this is hot air from Tchividjian. He wasn't addressing the benefits and downfalls of specific styles of music. He was addressing our improperly separating congregations based on their musical preference. Musical preference has nothing to do with a properly offered worship service.

John, thank you so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment. I\\\'m sorry a reply is so long in coming. I noticed that most of the folks featured in the series have some sort of autism, too. I still have to watch this week\\\'s episodes, but I\\\'m looking forward to seeing yours.

GregoryPittman.com : iPhone vs. Android: The Backstory

Just saw your comment, Jared. IntenseDebate never notified me. On to the discussion... I'm really pleased so far. The iPhone is a natural fit for me because I have moved clocking and invoicing for my side projects to my iPad and now both devices can be in sync. OmniFocus and a few other apps stay in sync, too. So now my two major devices pretty much operate extensions of each other. I need to go light and leave the iPad at home, I won't feel like I'm unable to accomplish a necessary task. I powered on my Android this afternoon to prep it for selling and almost cringed. I was surprised by my reaction.

IsaiahSix : Toward a Definition of Worship

Oh yes. I'm well aware of Worship Matters. In fact, Bob's blog has been on my Blogs Worth Reading list since I started this site. I have much respect for Bob and his ministry. In fact, I've told him before he's mentored more worship leaders than he is aware of. He and I have only met face to face a couple of times, but I have learned a lot from him through Worship Matters (both the blog and the book) and the WorshipGod conferences. I haven't heard of Return to Worship. I'll check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

The Beta Version : The Sunday Blueprint

That's a hilarious video, Greg. I've actually been talking with a group of folks from our church about this topic recently. We like to think we're not "liturgical" in the modern sense of the word, that is, strict guidelines as to how the worship service will flow. But if I can completely miss the service, look at the clock and tell you precisely what element you're on at the moment, you're following a prescribed liturgy. Now, that may or may not be a bad thing (I think it is a bad thing more often than not). But it highlights the fact that it's easy to get stuck in a rut and to simply fill in blanks on a worship planning template.

The Blazing Center : Why Words Matter In A Worship Song

Thank you for this great reminder, Stephen. As I plan worship services in coordination with our pastor, I want to make sure the texts we sing are as biblically truthful as I pray his sermon will be. In other words, if the texts of the songs we sing do not “preach,” they don't belong in worship.
