The strength is shown by some of the great games left off the list. I think this is the first IGN Wii U top 25 list that I don't have a problem with any of the games on it.

I knew we wouldn't go through January Direct-less. Looking forward to the same stuff everyone else is predicting: Kirby info, Splatoon info, Code Name STEAM info, maybe some more Majora's Mask, New 3DS reveal + Xenoblade Chronicles. I feel there will be a Nintendo download-only title shown off; it's been a while, so the time is right.

Endless Ocean is good (Blue World is better). Rhythm Heaven Fever, Wii Sports Resort and Little King's Story are pretty great (LKS being tops in that grouping). Xenoblade is top of the class, hands down. I am 100% opposed to your opinion of/terminology regarding the game. I'm glad you had other games that connected with you, though.
