But in Apple Family Reunion, Granny Smith explicitly says that she "still can't believe it's been almost one hundred moons since [their] last family reunion". We know that their last family reunion occurred in the very first episode, and the moon's cycle is 28 days, so 100 moons * 28 days/moon = ~7.7 years between the first episode and that episode. And let's not forget how we went from winter to fall in the span of all of three episodes between Winter Wrap Up and Fall Weather Friends.

I don't think the show really even tries to have any sort of consistency regarding how long it's been between episodes, and I think it's kind of a fool's errand to try to make any such determination.

(Of course, you could argue that "a moon" means something different in Equestria than it does on Earth, but then so could the sun, and then you basically have to admit that our concept of a year might not even be meaningful in Equestria, and then you're back to where we started.)

In their defense, the Sonic universe contains an *official and canon* black-and-red tragic-backstory Mary Sue character, so there's precedent. :P

I feel like if Princess Celestia were here and saw someone's alicorn OC, she would tell them that it was very nice and that she hopes it makes the person happy. :P

If I were to play devil's advocate, I would point out that one consistent theme throughout the entire series has been that the mane 6 don't like being put on a pedestal (except perhaps Rainbow Dash, but that's just her personality type) and generally just like to be part of the town in which they live. I don't imagine that they would appreciate being told something like that.

The only way it'd be bad is if it was starting to take the place of show-related stuff and if OCs were being featured in the stead of quality show-related art. On the other hand, if our choice is between more OCs or just strictly less art, obviously the former is preferable.

How's that a "huge" issue? It's not like that's the first character whose name has been ill-defined, nor does it actually change the character in any meaningful way. Just pick one; the fans will know who you're talking about.

Oh, I understand why someone would *care*. I like the name "Derpy" more, too. I'm just objecting to the incredible lack of perspective here. No one's going to die because someone called a cartoon character by this name instead of that name.

I feel like I should remind readers, lest they forget, that this post exhorting an "urgent" "necessary" "demand" is talking about the name of a cartoon character. Not about malaria in Africa, or victims of a devastating tsunami, but the name of a cartoon character.

Please stop.
