Well, actually, we did sort of end up being the rulers of the world after WWII. We basically left nearly unscathed from that war, at least relative to Europe or Russia, which were ravaged We were the last country able to stay on a gold standard. As a result, Bretton Woods was created. Since dollar bills were directly convertible to gold FOR FOREIGNERS the US dollar became the world's reserve currency. After all, why would you want to have gold when you can have dollar bills that gained interest in a bank? Dollars were literally better than gold back then - at least until the French started demanding to exchange their dollars for gold, and forced Nixon to take the dollar off the gold standard. The US dollar became the world's reserve currency, and if you could reasonably say that did make us the rulers of the world - for a little while. Don't forget we reshaped Japan and German in our own image either afterward.

Dear Alan W. Dowd. You say: "There it is. It all comes back to us. We’re to blame for Iran’s nuclear ambitions and Iran’s radicalism." No, WE are not to blame. Our crappy government is to blame. Not "we", the Federal government is to blame. The Federal government that overthrew the Iranian DEMOCRACY in 1953 to secure cheaper access to oil in Operation Ajax. The Federal government is to blame, not "us". Eisenhower did this secretly, and Ajax was classified up until a Freedom of Information Act found the report in the late 1990s. The government had to overthrow the democracy in SECRET. The American populace isn't to blame, a corrupt government with a corrupt foreign policy is to blame. We need to change that corrupt government.

Dear Alan W. Dowd. Isolationism is what we do to Iran now, what we do to Syria, and North Korea Non interventionism is what we do with China and Russia Interventionism is what we do with Iraq and Afghanistan If you don't know the difference between Isolationism - what we do with Iran NOW, and non interventionism then why are you being allowed to write an article on the subject? So tired of seeing this strawman argument brought up over and over and over again. If you have a serious complaint about one of Paul's policies, by all means, bring up one of his ACTUAL POLICIES.

Wonkette : Nostalgic Ron Paul Remembers His Favorite Early 20th Century Disasters

"Don't they realize that the times they have a-changed? We need to be looking *forward,* " To what? Warrantless wiretapping? Another renewal of the Patriot Act? Another war against a Muslim country? the country has gone fascist, and the only ONLY person running for president that is even standing in the way of it is Paul. If you're happy with all the crap Bush did, vote for anybody but Paul, because NOBODY else will even TRY to reverse any of it. And you might want to talk to your parents, better yet your GRAND parents, to see how the country has changed. There is something to learn from older people. For example, the government wasn't entirely corrupt 40 years ago. Bush makes Nixon look like a Saint, and Carter makes Obama look like an effective president. At least Carter had some balls.

I have nostalgia too. I remember when Obama was running for president. He promised to... * end the Iraq war (44 US servicemen dead so far this year) * end the Patriot Act * stop warrantless wiretapping. * hold TARP receivers accountable. * post all legislation online for 5 days for public comment before he signed it into law Well, if you want another lying scumsucking asshole for your next president, elect anybody else but Paul. At least everything out of his mouth isn't a pure unadulterated lie just to get himself elected. How are you enjoying the 11th year of Neocon rule, everybody?

InvestorPlace : Forget Silver Coins, Put These Shiny ETFs in Your Pocket

The entire reason to buy any precious metal is so that you have no counter party risk. Morgan Stanley was successfully sued when it was discovered that they were charging customers a fee for insurance on silver that their customers has purchased through Morgan Stanley. The reason for the lawsuit is that Morgan Stanley didn't actually purchase the silver that their customers paid Morgan Stanley to buy and hence there was no reason for them to be charging storage fees. Don't expect the ETFs to be any different. Again, the whole point of purchasing a precious metal is so that you don't have to trust anybody to deliver it to you and as Morgan Stanley has proved, you can't trust even "reputable" companies today.
