Thrifty Mammy : 8 Advantages to Using a Slow Cooker

Some great tips there! I love my slow cooker! Great way to cook the joints/roasts often on offer in Super Valu and turn them into a deliciously tender cut! The frozen leg of lamb in Lidl is also great in the slow cooker. I defrost it first and just pop it into the crockpot with a little water. Leave it on low for 8-10 hours when I'm in college. A beef roast is great in there too. I soften some onions and garlic in a little oil and pour in some red wine and let it bubble for a minute or so. Pour into the crockpot, put the beef on top and leave on low for about 8 hours. Turns what could be a chewy leathery piece of beef into a lovely dinner! Yay for the slow cooker!
