I was one of the followers that asked for a TS GK count as post. Simply because, as with the Night Lords I don't feel the current Chaos codex has the options to create a viable, fluffy 1k sons list.

Its not because I think the codex sucks or any of that whining, its simply because looking back at older codices, we had more liberty to create a fluffy 1k sons list.
And the GK codex kinda brought that back, specially if you are looking for a pre heresy 1k sons list.

I have to say that I asked for this count as not because I was looking for the cheese, In fact my armies are all but cheesy (CSM, BT and Kroot, yes pure kroot merc army) Ok, one can argue that the BT got quite a deal with the recent faq, but still not cheesy.

This said my main army are Black Templars, and I'm painting then with BT iconography and a crimson hand (you can see where this is going). Yes, I'm thinking of the option of also being able to use them as crimson fists, due to the insane amount of marines I have, so instead of having two different armies, I have one huge crusade from which I can pick lists for both BT and CF and save some € on tanks and such.
As stated, this is an idea, so far I've only used them as BT, but the idea is a cheap option to try a different army or a different approach to an army and plus it is fluffy as the BT and CF did crusade together.

So it seems that two of the major factors in the discussion are:
"Is it fluffy?"
Look of the army + WYSIWYG

I just see them as the Emperor's champion.

It is a HQ, but it doesn't take a slot.

In this case, they count as troops, but don't take up slots.

This will get FAQ'd but, when, its another issue, so have fun till then. ;)

One of the players in our group has an Elysian army, he plays with them occasionally and so far no problems.

There again, its all a question of talking things out, yeah you can use x army list because it fits with the rules of the game (40k) but no you can't use superheavys, flyer and stuff because it messes up the current 40k game system, like AbusePuppy quite rightly has stated.
