Intresting list. There is so many factors that can determine how much you can actually make from your site or blog - I will definitely have to re-read the ad positioning article. Who knows, maybe things have changed since my lasts tests.

Dennis,

You can get lowest priced VPS for as little $40, however - if you are looking for a managed VPS (if you are not a linux admin, like some of us :-) ) - it will cost you a bit more but a lot less then Dedicated server. Managed VPS is perfect for a large, popular blog.

I agree, I'm not a huge windows fan, although I work with it day-in and day-out but Windows 7 was first OS where M$ got things right. I have to admit it.

Strange, my wife's laptop came with Vista / Free upgrade to 7, when I tried Vista - I put away laptop till 7 came out - that OS simply unusable, pile of crap. Reminds me Windows Millennium, same idiotic concept and unfinished implementation.

But I was able to upgrade the Vista in place - with no issues and laptop became quite quick and useful, considering the power it had inside :-) So am not quite sure why you can't upgrade.

Well, if the spam comes in with a link to bad neighborhood, spam blog or banned sites - you will be held responsible by Google for allowing that link, as you own the content on your blog.

Yeah, unfortunately Akismet choose to deploy blacklists that are not very effective but still better then nothing. While it might not prevent the "black hat" guys - it will protect against some of the idiots, who just follow the lead.

Interesting, thanks for the info Dennis. I'll definitely double check it but I do know Google got very picky about AdSense accounts used on sites that don't comply with some of their requirements.
