Ladd Ehlinger Jr., Hyphenate : Did Ron Brynaert Swat Mike Stack and Patterico?

Read these. http://allergic2bull.blogspot.com/2011/12/thugger... http://allergic2bull.blogspot.com/2011/12/more-th... http://allergic2bull.blogspot.com/2011/12/exhibit... http://allergic2bull.blogspot.com/2011/12/neal-ra... And look at this: http://twitpic.com/8axndh Now, put aside the swatting for a minute, pretend it never happened. Just look at those examples, which are merely a few of many. Now someone try and tell me Ron is an honest "reporter" in all this. Tell me he doesn't appear to be helping the thugs. Tell me he had other intentions, good ones, when he emailed my workplace to try and get me fired and to try and make my colleagues distance themselves from me. Someone convince me that that's "honest reporting." Innocent people's lives have been put in danger. Information helps empower them. Ron engages in manipulative info-digging and convolution tactics and his own actions have proven that. That alone is enough for me to know he's bad news - swatting or not. Anyone else who cannot see that must have blinders on.

Ladd Ehlinger Jr., Hyphenate : Meet The World\'s Greatest Detective

Well, you're right about it being an oppo research political op. That's pretty clear, and it's funded. Problem is, whoever did this must not give a flying-eff that by doing this whole thing, they opened up the gates for sociopathic opportunists to take advantage of the melee and take it well into crazyland, into people's real lives, online AND offline. And those nutbags have ruined these people's lives, for now anyway. Better humans - left, right or independent - would come forward and fess up, at the very least, to some of those who've been hurt by all this. Instead, they've let it continue while victims try to work around their own limitations to sort it all out on their own. I'm with you on that last point for sure...share it! Because eventually, they'll be exposed anyway. Only difference is, it'll just take longer. But the damage just keeps piling up more and more, the longer it goes on. By the way, I never really understood why anyone saw Weiner as *that* much of a threat. The guy's own party couldn't stand him, so it's not like that would take him too far in a federal office. But I suppose that's what complicates this in the first place, widens the suspect list, doesn't it? Dude was not that popular outside his own backyard. That to me was always a telling component in all of this.

Read the comment added below. My Intense Debate profile was hacked. As one of the contributors here, I would definitely never write such offensive comments. Please report any similar future comments made under my profile to the administrators (click on the Report link & type in "Impersonating Liberty Chick"). I try to keep an eye out for them, but will miss some. Appreciate it if you could report any you see. Thanks!

Big Government : BREAKING: Anonymous Hits FBI, DOJ, Others After Feds Bust File Sharing Website

"I'm fan of SOPA or of govt overreach" was obviously meant to read NO fan... Peregry - yes, I read the indictment, I'm the one who linked it in my post :) The indictment isn't directly connected to SOPA, especially since it began much earlier, long before SOPA was a hot topic. And the charges are not necessarily SOPA related. However, due to the type of site it is, it brings the issue of piracy and how to address the problem into the public view, where naturally the conversation will gravitate toward SOPA. And when discussing SOPA, I stand by what I've always stated - I think the bill in its current form is govt overreach. I recognize the need to protect our country's innovations from piracy and counterfeiting (esp internationally); however, our current laws - with some added tweaking - should become adequate to address the problems, rather than what's in the current bill.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm fan of SOPA or of govt overreach, so my inclination is to feel torn. However, I'm also no fan of a bunch of bullies (though not *all* of Anon are bad) constantly trying to tell me & others how to think. We live in a day & age where some are all too content to trade one power grabbing entity for another. There is a reason why the founders stressed the word "individual" when phrasing "liberties."

Probably cost them like $200K to do a "study" on whether browsing the web for info would be useful, and another $200K in market research to pick out which websites to browse. And then $500K to implement the "program." OK, I picked those figures out of thin air, but you get my drift ;)

No, I'm not underestimating - and that's coming from someone who monitors and studies the institutional left full-time, as a career. As I said, there are many other things DHS *is* doing that includes "monitoring" or "tracking" websites. But this specific story? Not one of those. The "monitoring" stuff is the likes of other DHS programs. Do you know what this program is? The same exact thing as when DHS employees watch CNN, MSNBC or <gasp> FOX News to keep a pulse on what's going on out there. Just like you and I do when we read the Bigs. It's just that government entails a LOT of paperwork, and the documents to which I link in this post are nothing more than an overly bureaucratic, overly complicated way of saying, "our DHS employees are browsing the web to keep up with everybody else out there." Again, I emphasize, this article does not dispute that there IS monitoring & tracking of some websites being conducted in Homeland Security. It's just not THIS program that covers those, they're different programs.

The more important perspective is that the ILWU union member emphasizes it is the OCCUPY movement who called the port closing, not the union. The port-related unions have aligned & coordinated with protest organizers to expand the limited numbers & power of unions by augmenting with Occupy protesters and additional activist groups. This is an important revelation. It doesn't take that many in numbers to disrupt ports (or roads, bridges, etc.) in a coordinated fashion - it only requires the mass coordination, which is occurring.
