I went when I was 65 with DH. We had fun taking watching the Japanese tourists squeeing over Green Gables and bought a five pounds of potatoes from some Australian hobby farmers to take home as souvenirs.

Now sing it to the tune of Greensleeves. You will be such a hit at parties!

My favourite cocktail suit was a pink shantung number I had in the Eighties with a miniskirt, extended shoulders, sweetheart neckline, puffed sleeves with bows and, of course, a peplum.
My waist never looked so tiny.

FWIW- It has been the custom in my family (and perhaps more widely) to save the top layer of the wedding cake for use as a christening cake for the first child.
We are talking about fruit cakes here. Heavy in sugar, preserved fruits and brandy.
Of course, most children would arrive within months ore even weeks of the wedding.
My own child did not arrive for 11 years, and the cake, being topped up with brandy when I made my Christmas fruit cakes, was just fine.

"The French word for grasshopper is 'sauterelle.' " This is my new favourite French word. Roughly 'jumping lady'.
Previous favourites include 'patane' (thingmabob - usually machinery) and 'mazout' (furnace oil).

There were three of these but I sold the other two.
Was this a thing?
