Thank you, Rosie. I believe it! After three sons, having a daughter has been eye-opening for me. At fifteen months old, Mary Rose is already more interested in clothes (putting them on, taking them off, picking different ones) than her brothers have ever been. She is also more interested in my jewelry, too. It is interesting to me and has me thinking about beauty and health more than I have previously.
Thanks, Anni! Yes, I know what you mean about the shading filters to keep the pictures looking like they were taken in similar lighting or something like that. I read that advice after I had been on Instagram for a year or so. I have played around with a few different shading filters on Instagram, but half the time I forget! Ha! I don't think there is a problem with the shading filters as they don't alter the focus of the image. It is the fact that the beauty filters can change one's face into something that it isn't, and then set that as the preferred standard that bothers me.
Yes, filters remove our unique attributes and then morphs them into the current cultural standards of beauty (which are often unrealistic and unattainable).
Thank you, Jen! I agree that confidence is beautiful. That is why I love joining and reading everyone's My Sunday Best posts. The women are confident and honest in discussing their outfits, their children's Mass behavior, and the successes or failures that go along with those clothing choices and their children's antics.
Thank you for the kind comment and for sharing the story about your son. I love how he recognized that the amount of makeup the young women were wearing was unnecessary.
I want to read that book, but I don't have a copy. Plus, I have a copy of The Catholic Table, and it is going to be one of my February books. I will follow the conversation in the group though!
Neat, Jen! I had not heard of him either. Here is to 2018 and the intercession of St. Conrad!
I believe it! If my boys were younger and closer in age, our morning basket would include the majority of our school work for the day, too.
Thank you! Yes, please share it with your friends that are homeschooling.
Thank you! I like having a plan. I feel like I knit slow, too, but I think that is because I can't knit through my list quick enough! :) Enjoy your knitting!
