Equestria Daily : \"Crusaders of the Lost Mark\": Episode Followup

Your friend's designs are much better and alleviate most of my issues with the original design. I'd love to see them 'shopped onto the CMC to fully compare, but I like what I see already.

PLAYERESSENCE : Bayonetta 2: SALT & Why isn't EVERYONE Helping? #OperationPlatinum

I started off apologetic, and the only people putting words into anyone's mouths is you and francis. I'm just describing your own words and actions, but if I'm doing that now then it's only because I'm following your example. Thank you for destroying what was left of a depressed person's passion with your rotten attitudes. I'm sure you feel so proud.

It's interesting how people will reveal how nasty they can be when a person apologetically opens up to issues and wants help and support, but won't just blindly echo the sentiments people want to hear. Want to know why I'm "dramatic"? Look in a mirror. It doesn't hurt that people keep responding in ways that give me reasons to be. That's like kicking someone down to the ground and asking them why they're complaining that you did that to them. I WANTED to like Bayonetta, I LIKE action games, I raised EXAMPLES of an action game I've played where I didn't have any issues, but in Bayonetta 2's demo I DID and wasn't sure WHY and wanted SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT so I might want to try again. But please, by all means ignore that and label me further. All you're really doing is saying "you don't sound like you're fully supporting us, therefore you're against us".

I asked you to kindly leave me alone. The only true drama queen is you; picking on gamers for having issues and straw-manning what they say in order to promote your rhetoric. If part of the operation was to destroy even the apologetic gamers who were unsure or struggling, then you've helped achieve that.

Now you're just resorting to straw-manning and putting words into my mouth. Your attitude reflects poorly on you, your site, and on gamers as a whole. I'm sorry I ever thought that this was one of the last decent gaming sites on the web. I'm super depressed now and would kindly request you leave me alone. I won't post ever again if you do, thus you can feel like you've won. You've chased away another potential buyer and a passionate gamer.

I like DMC because I had time to grow at the series and found that the latest game did a decent job seguing people into the new and changed mechanics, even on normal, with additional difficulties for those that found it too easy. You seem so determined to defend this game's honour and label me in order to make yourself feel better about issues people might have with the game, and it reflects poorly on you and this site as a whole. You really haven't inspired me to try again; quite the opposite. If you're trying to encourage people to game and to try new things or give them another go, then you're going about it in an extremely poor way. Why should I spend the valuable time and energy forcing myself to record me playing a game I already have a negative experience with that's been exacerbated by the response from those who defend it? Also the fact that one of my previous comments is still awaiting moderation is very telling that you simply don't like what I have to say, so you're trying to silence me and negate my opinion.

I have an issue with the "casual" label and how you're framing me with it. I read about, talk about, and think about games and gaming often. I also play as much as I can, though not every game, and not always. No I'm not an expert gamer; I don't live for maximum difficulty and having my abilities tested all the time, but I play games and like a fair challenge. You seem to be trying to hard to defend the game as "too good for you", but really the game should be trying its best to accommodate players by explaining its mechanics and quirks clearly and giving the player a chance to adjust, as I explained in my previous comments, and clarified further in one that is still awaiting moderation.

Part of the problem is I wanted to like this game, and I'm not new to action games, though not an expert either. Everyone was so enthused and I saw this as "Nintendo's DMC", which sounded fun. I think everyone's so worried about it selling poorly and that reflecting on the quality of the game, that if you're not a hyped day-oner then there's something wrong with you. It's concerning to me.

Looking back through this thread you probably had one of the most reasonable responses to my quandary, so thanks for that. I also tried the W101 demo and didn't care for it, but the person who I admitted that to on Youtube was actually rather reasonable about it, stating that at least I tried the demo and most don't.

You come across as trying to strawman me here, and I don't appreciate that. I've given a lot more information and depth behind my issues than most would, especially beyond the "you're just focused on how the game is too hard" brush you're trying to paint me with, and genuinely considered myself a part of this community, to some degree, and felt I had enough of a history with action games to handle this one on normal, but it feels like the members of this site, at least, are so bent on promoting and supporting the game that they are setting themselves upon anyone who offers genuine criticism regarding their experiences with the game, or in this case the demo. At this point, the response I've seen here from people who are self-proclaimed supporters and are supposed to be helping to enthuse others about the game, this is the final nail in the coffin in me ever getting it, and all of my enthusiasm destroyed. You're going to try and write me off now, I suppose; a "troll", a "shill", "never was going to buy it anyway". Go ahead, and rate me down to because forbid I have an opinion or state my genuine experiences with the game hoping to see support, not an attempt to shift all the blame to me, even though I was just looking for others to enthuse me; "demo can be hard if you're not used to the game, give it another try when you can and you might find you follow better", "it's okay, Bayonetta may not be for everyone; action games are hard, niche", etc. Instead all issues and focus have been piled on me, and I've been treated as a pariah because I don't want to invest full price in a game that I have had such a bad first experience playing and nobody wants to help in way that doesn't try to frame me as a bad guy. I wrote far too much here, and spent far too much time and energy trying to work out what was wrong, but I see I am the problem. I shouldn't be gaming, even though it means so much to me, and I shouldn't even exist. I don't game to feel like this, and I don't try to socialise to feel worse either. I don't want anything to do with people or games that make me feel like this. Two years of building interest and enthusiasm destroyed with a demo and a comment thread.

"Do you have a capture card or camera to record you playing? I would like to see what you are doing because I haven\\'t heard anybody complain about dying too much in the demo." I almost wanted to suggest this myself. I'm almost willing to do so, though I fear the effort may not be worth it as, even though I'm trying to follow what the game taught me to the best of my ability, I'd likely come off feeling even worse than I do already given the general response people have had to my issues. I'm starting to worry that people are so invested promoting this game that they are getting defensive about any genuine criticism aimed at it.

I played the game dodging whenever I could to activate Witch Time while performing whatever combos I could remember. I didn't simply mash buttons. It wasn't easy to react to all the additional prompts due to being new to the game and not super familiar with all the controls and mechanics. As I said, I've played similar action games and had much less issue. I don't believe the tutorial covers anything beyond attacking and dodging, which is a shame; perhaps if they had included some time to try out torture attacks and such, perhaps in a 3D environment, like DmC Devil May Cry's, I would have had more time to grow accustomed to these mechanics. If the demo was meant to be easy on normal, it didn't come across that way at all.

That's rather unfair considering how forthcoming and honest I've been. Playing Bayonetta 2's demo didn't inspire me as much as I'd been lead to believe it would, and though I'm no expert by any means, I'm decent enough to handle most action games on at least "normal". The game just doesn't feel like it's set up to segue people into the mechanics as the tutorial lacks the required 3D space necessary in order to become accustomed to full combat and enemies attack patterns, and the fact that enemies seem to take a lot of damage and the game can be rather unforgiving if you're trying to adapt to it. Failing that early and that quickly is not fun and just ends up overwhelming.

"My Fiancee who doesn't play games beat the demo" On normal difficulty, and without dying? That honestly doesn't make me feel any better. I even spent some time in the tutorial trying to get Witch Time and combos down, but it didn't seem to make things any better. I wanted to be hyped for Bayonetta, especially given what everyone has said, but now I just wish I'd lived in the hype. It was more fun that way.

The problem is "normal" difficulty is often framed as "everyone should be okay with this to start off with", whereas I struggled more with this than I feel I should. The problem with your "cans" is that they rely on me buying a full price game under the hope that I'll have the time to get better. I already have a lot to do in my life, including lots of games to play that tend to be more enjoyable, to justify spending the money on another that I'd have to spend time learning otherwise I can't get past the first level, or otherwise lower the difficulty which feels like I'm unworthy for the standard level the developers expected everyone to be capable of handling, which isn't very inspiring. I feel bad for ranting about this because I know it probably isn't going to end well. I'm sorry I'm not spouting the desired support and day-one purchase spiel everyone wants to hear. Everyone has been trying hard to show their support that I feel rather broken since playing the demo and struggling as badly as I did. I often consider giving up gaming, due to the current climate and my own situation, but it means such a lot to me that it's difficult to do.

I will admit that I tried the demo and have been saddened each time I saw Bayonetta 2 mentioned anywhere because I didn't have much fun with it myself. I honestly felt that it was too difficult, which makes me sound like a "filthy casual" unworthy of Bayonetta. It's a shame because I had a lot of fun playing through some of DmC Devil May Cry on my modest gaming laptop and wondered why I struggled so much with this game when they are fairly similar beasts. I feel like I shouldn't have to say this, but don't resent either Nintendo or P*, because they are both good, decent companies, but if I'm not having fun, I cannot justify buying a game, especially at full price. I'm sorry if I'm letting some people down here somehow.
