The internet is a reflection of human culture, nothing more. The fact is, human culture has degenerated to the point where integrity is no longer a requirement for journalists, college professors can teach students things for which they have no evidence, playing someone's own words is now a "smear campaign." The way to reverse this is simple: engage your rational faculty. Demand proof, and encourage others to do the same. Question assertions. Find the truth, and expose it, even if you have to pay a price for it. We as a people, as a culture, as a species, always pay a disastrous price when we turn off our Reason, and blindly accept what others tell us.
