Listverse : 10 Biblical Facts That Everyone Gets Wrong

Really Good List Jamie and well presented: For Subject 5 You could have included the latter as corrobboration: Wine: The Bible, as you correctly state. does NOT condemn the drinking of alcohol - that misconception is a holdover from Calvinistic and Purtian Prtotestantism - which worked its way into Methodism etc; What the Bible DOES say is "Be not DRUNK of the fruit of the vine" - at the same time many gainsayers will claim that the water was turned into grape juice - but the original Gospels clearly use a word which translates from the original Greek as WINE /a "fermented grape beverage". As for money the misquote is generally "Money id the root of all evil" when in fact Peter says "LOVE of money - is the root of all evil" Again Great list

Try standing in front of theHillsborough Menorial at Anfield and not feel the tragedy and pain! One other point rarely mentioned in public: the Juventus fans STARTED the riot at Heysel; spitting at the English fans and throwing cups of urine at them - among other things - it's simply because the Liverpool fans retaliated by jumping the fence and the Italians trying to run away caused the railing to collapse - but because the majority of dead and injured were Italian, the English fans got the blame!

Exceptional List, Random: If I may add a little something to Incident 3: Hillsborough. The accident had very little to do with the hold-up (that was a police myth) - in fact, the major hold-up was the fact that the police were stopping buses carrying Liverpool Fans - and ONLY Liverpool fans and searching them for weapons - Liverpool still had a "reputation" following Heysel even though they were not the worst for hooliganism at the time and had kept their reputations clean. As a result of the harrassment the buses were pulling up late and the fans were trying to get in barely 15 minutes before kick=off: as the teams walked onto the pitch, people outside began panicking and that's when the Police opened the extra gate and funnelled the fans into only one 'corral' causing the crush. The police were responsible for creating the delay, the panic and then the disaster - - - and yet not ONE of them, despite being found officially responsible, has ever been held accountable.

Well obviously you should have done a little more research than JUST "Sorry, Wrong Answer". The term 'Black Box' for the in flight recording system was NOT chosen for humourous reasons - the term 'Black Box' is a generic 'dumping ground' term for any electronic/computerised device for which no immediate commercial purpose has been ascertained. Thus when it was designed/built it was an electronic "Black Box". When it was proposed to the aircraft industry in Australia (and rejected), the inventor took it to (I believe) Boeing, who saw the immediate applicational advantages and installed it under its working title - the 'Black Box' Flight Recorder. The fluorexcent oirange powder-coated colouring was added after several crashes where the recorder was either unlocatable or was located by accident or with difficulty. The original ones were a dull, metallic grey.

Listverse : 10 Lesser-Known Venomous Snakes

Excellent List! Death Adder is surprisingly unknown in Australia, not just the the rest of the world - You mention the word 'Adder' in relation to snakes in Oz and most Aussies will think - - - Africa or Asia; most Aussies don't even know we have a snake by that name - that or they think it's a mythical animal! However, if I may make a correction - your first snake you stated: "Although related to true cobras, the water cobra actually belongs to a different genus" In fact - if they are different genera - they're NOT related - their relationship goes back to the Family level which is 'elapidae' which basically makes the water cobra no more related to the true cobra any more than the true cobra is related to the Taipan! However, despite that hiccup - a great list: I used to lecture on snakes and envenomation to emergency services, nurses and doctors and I am impressed with your list - I've only heard of about 5 of them before.

Jery stay out of conversations you're not a part of and/or have not the intelligence to enter: The OLD TESTAMENT is made up of 39 "Books" the NEW TESTAMENT is made up of (22 sections which are referred to for convenience and/or only by lazy assholes and morons like you - books); The reality is that theyare made up of 4 GOSPELS; ONE Book (Acts); 16 LETTERS and ONE REVELATION. Now, stop drooling on yourself, have your carer change your nappy (diaper if you're a Yank) and stay out of conversations which are way above your intellect standard - which pretty much means; don't reply to anything said to you (or around you) by anyone (or anyTHING) more intelligent than a Broccoli plant.

The IS NO "Book of Apocalypse" - - - it's not even called "The Book of Revelation" It's simply "Revelation" or in some transcriptions "The Revelation of St.John" If you can't get something as basic as that correct, why should anyone take anything else you write seriously?

In Comment #3 you forgot to mention the Christian destruction of Muslim artifacts in the Middle East during and since the Crusadea, the razing of the Library of Alexandria, the destruction of hundreds (if not thousands) of native artifacts (especially in Central & southern America) by the Conquistadores and the priests who accompanied/followed them as well as the iconoclasm of icons and statues of the Greek and Russian Orthodoxy in various other Crusades and that of the paintings and cravings of Huguenots and Cathars. Not all name changes are good - after all Apatosaurus sucks in comparison to Brontosaurus! Brontosaurus SOUNDS like a dinosaur: Apatosaurus sounds like something you'd buy half a pound of from a butcher's shop!</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>Which book do you have re the size of the Trike? I've got a library full of books (over 200 last count) but none seem to place it quite that big - though I've heard apocryphally that such sizes have been bandied about. Also - don't get your hopes up about the 'bigger' Trikes being described soon; I'm a Tyrannosaur nut and I've been waiting for about 6 years now for Keith Rigby to get off his arse and finish his description of Tyrannosaurus imperator - supposedly a Tyrannosaur some 15-20% larger than T-rex; as well, that idiot Jack Horner says HE has a Tyrannosaur in the group he's unearthing which is bigger than either Tyrannosaurus \"Sue\" OR Tyrannosaurus \"Stan\".</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>BTW - you sound like you might be a bit of a dinosaur nut! If so, there's a good, low-key discussion group on Yahoo called DinosaursEtc. Good people, some of whom are involved in palaeontology - the moderator, Bruce sculpts dinosaur skeletons for universities and museums while dawn is a preparator in New Mexico, the rest of us are just nuts about dino's- they'd love to have you in the group, it's going a bit slow at present</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>Carra23</DIV> <DIV style=\"FONT: 10pt arial\">
