My only problem with this Ronda/Nia announcement is that it kinda goes directly against what Ronda said she was aiming to do. She didn't want to take the spot away from people and she wanted to earn her way. Instead of sticking with that, they're just rushing Ronda's first title match and I fear that this is something that's going to hurt her in the short-term.
we aren't guaranteed that Seth or Jeff will be going to Tuesdays just because we still have Backlash in play. The US or IC titles can stay on Raw until May 6 and then one - or both - could switch brands. Personally I would love for Seth to become a Smackdown Superstar, but I also like the possibility of the titles staying in flux until Backlash. Adds something to the show to say they could be winning the title for the sake of their brand
Jeff or Seth going to Smackdown isn't as much of a guarantee as you might think. This wouldn't be the first time one show ran two titles in the same tier until the next PPV. Smackdown has Randy Orton and The Miz, and both of those guys do have rematches owed to them at Backlash. We could simply see Raw carry the midcard titles until Backlash where The Miz bring the IC title to Smackdown (Likely losing it to Bryan?) or Orton bringing the US back to Smackdown (which seems less likely if not simply because there's less of a story there).
Not necessarily. Smackdown does still have Randy and they're confirmed to get MIz. Both of those guys have rematches for their respective championships at Backlash. It wouldn't be the first time that Raw carried multiple titles in the same bracket following a draft/shakeup situation and the next PPV worked it all out.
They can announce a casket match to officially bury Rusev for real, but they can't explain the Intercontinental Championship match? If Joe wins that match, Backlash vs. Roman could be for the IC title, and Raw didn't say anything about it outside of showing the ad.
I would pop for some Mantaur in 2018!
These wrestlers are independent contractors. Their personal kayfabe is on them to an extent. I'm glad that some have decided to keep up with it, but with the curtain being pulled back in the 80s and social media becoming prominent over the last 10 years or so, it was only a matter of time before the lines blurred.
Foley is old-school. It's good for those in the business to maintain what they learned from their prime.
One could make the argument that without Raw there would be no Smackdown. I'm hoping The Rock shows up too - as long as they don't give him one of those unscripted 45 minute segments again.
Do we actually put any merit into a fabricated ranking list of a fictional television program?
I would love that. It's almost a rehash, but there's a twist and I would hope Slater gets the payoff in the end with a contract somewhere. I mean it's not like he's leaving when it's all hands on deck. He's the One Man Brand baybay!
