I think you’re wrong. There was a hell of a lot of knocking up done at the time I was Assistant Agent in the constituency, with local MP Douglas Hogg frequently encouraging us by his presence on the doorstep.

I suggest the loss of the Kirkby Laythorpe seat is down to three factors:
1. Not having a candidate who lives in the ward.
2. The Lincolnshire Independents petition campaign against Conservative-run NKDC Executive’s recent decision to spend a not inconsiderable sum on rebranding with a new logo, etc., which has caused electors to lose confidence in the Conservatives ability to spend money wisely.
3. Confusion in the public’s mind by allowing a registered political party that stands multiple candidates in General Elections to include the word “independents” in its name.

But surely our Government, like every other EU Country’s Government is called by treaty to follow racialist immigration policies? Why else do we allow free access to non-English speaking people (whose culture is markedly differently our own) from historically white European countries, whilst making English-speaking people (who share many, if not all, of our values and culture) from former commonwealth countries (which are historically non-white) jump through hoops?

The good thing about Brexit is that everyone wishing to come to live and work in the UK will do so on an equal basis; no longer will the colour of one’s skin matter.

Since William Hague’s changes to the Party’s Constitution, followed by centralised membership and imposed parliamentary candidates, people see little value in belonging to local associations. I suggest the only way of stopping the atrophy is to reverse the changes, and give local associations back their autonomy.

I wonder why TPTB are allowing Mr Cameron to be increasingly seen as a bully. Now that Tim Montgomerie isn't around to fill in the blanks, can anyone join up the dots for me, please?

Actually, it was a Labour Government that thought up "bedroom tax" and implemented it in the privately rented sector. All the coalition did was to extend the same principle into the social housing sector.

Could Parliament not achieve devolution by way of committees with delegated powers?

The English Committee could meet in the House on Thursdays, with the Northern Irish Commiittee meeting on the same day in Westminster Hall. On Fridays, the Scottish Committee could meet in the House, with the Welsh Committee in Westminster Hall.

Such arrangements would substantially reduce the cost of bureaucracy, if other National Assemblies and Parliaments were dissolved.

I'm hearing of a huge surge in SNP membership, following Alex Salmond's resignation. Is that correct?

It is my hope that, once independent, Scotland will invite English counties, at least as far south as Lincolnshire, to join with it.

Given that many former LibDem voters seem to have switched to Labour, it seems unfair to blame UKIP for the Conservatives poor showing.
